[MATCH OFF] Pitch inspection at noon

I'm just upset because I've got to think of summat to do for tea tonight now :(

Could well work in our favour if they've been tonked four games in a row before we meet them.

I take it those of us already with tickets will just be able to use these for the re-arranged date? You don't have to apply for any with the amended date on them? Never been in this position before!

On another note, I called Crewe at 9am today and asked if match in danger - 'No' came the reply, 'and no pitch inspection planned'. Left hand right hand confusion methinks!

Swindon and Tranmere both have difficult away games tonight. Walsall are playing well, have only lost sumert like 1 in their last 12 and have won 5 or their last 6 home games. Brentford have dipped a little, but their home form is very good. They've only lost 2 at home all season and onyl lost to us and the Pigs at Griffin Park last season. Hence we could easily go into the Stevenage game knowing our rivals have played a game or 2 more and are still not above us. Form and league position could easily go out of the window mind. Look at last week when Donny and Brentford both got beat by teams not playing particularly well and with seemingly nowt to play for.

If last season has taought me anything, its that games in hand still have to be won/drawn to be of any benefit...

Unless they shoehorn it into March 26th (fortnight tonight) between Saturday and Good Friday - but short notice for policing etc

Due to clever booking of holidays, I could do either of those rearranged dates, but wasn't able to go tonight, so I'm happy! As long as we don't end up with Crewe two days after another midweek game, like happened in 1998. That was two days after the 3-3 at Tranmere, and I was off work suffering stress and tension due to a very traumatic break-up.

Not only did I get in to the Crewe game on a very dodgy ticket, I was really not in a good state, mentally or physically, as the blood that frequently dripped from the wound in my hand testified, proving that 1) it's never a good idea to punch a glass cabinet, and 2) if you do, you should bandage said hand.

If they showed the goals on the telly that night, my boss may have spotted me leaping over the seats to get to the front when we got that last minute goal from the spot to make it 1-2 to Crewe. I was screaming, "Come on United, we can still f*****g do it!"

If my boss had seen it, he'd definitely have said, "Yep, he's suffering from stress and tension all right."
 



Confirmed as April 23rd.

As i've now realised, an absolute disaster of a date for me :(

Paul Devlin scored his first ever goal for us in that Tranmere match if I remember correctly.

Tonge scored his first ever goal for us against Crewe as well.

Correct on the Devlin front, but Tongey was a couple of years away from starting for the Blades. Mind you, did we miss the penalty at Crewe (Graham Stuart) but then Ian Hamilton pop a goal in even later...? Where's my sub-editor?

The Crewe match where Tonge scored was a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane in October 2001.

That's what I was referring to.

Ah, right - forgiven! Meanwhile, it's a right bugger trying to find the goalscorers for that Crewe match in 1998. Anyone got The Complete Record to hand?

Greenwich Blade trust you are well -from the male half of the couple who sat in front of you at the Lane until we declined to attend due to McCabe's continuing involvement!-last saw you at Oldham and, unlike you, unable to go on April 23rd ( if that becomes the new date) as on holiday.

They may give us more tickets. The locals might decide not to bother turning up...

It is S t George's Day - memorable for me as it is 25 years since Mrs BoSS and I had our first date.

And they said it wouldn't last!

She's tried to get rid of me often enough though, bless her!

Aha, so you lurk on here then, eh? I'm fine, apart from excruciating pain thanks to a failed tooth extraction - I blame Bryan Robson myself.

Sorry I had to dash off after Oldham, but I had a lift waiting outside, and a National Express coach waiting in Manchester!

What was all this talk of 4th position??! Owd Olle called it right. Another evening where the pack fail to put pressure on us. Now I am a little worried about the fixture pile up at the end of the season and the last 5 games being so close to each other. This could be tricky and the pressure could be on, if others do put points on the board. However we are in a great position now with 10 games to go.
