Absolutely toilet tonight. Hoping the wind is to blame for Norwood because he's been shocking. As has Fleck.

Lucky to get a point tonight.

Bring back Lundstram haha

MOTM: The woodwork

Armchair fan here

Stats show the Brummies caused more issues. Not what you wanna read when your at home playing a team yet to get a win.

We seem to struggle after getting near the top. Weird!

Lucky to get a point with them hitting the woodwork twice

To many changes knocked us off our stride and not enough of the others at it, some very poor play out there tonight, thank god for Bash ☹️

That was simply shocking.

Norwood was appalling. Can’t understand it. Everything hie touched after the first 20 mins turned to shit.

If it wasn’t for the woodwork and Henderson that would have been a heavy loss.

;)
Listening to his interview, think he might rotate a bit tonight. Johnson, Baldock, Washington, Clarke and hopefully Fleck in for Stevens, Freeman, Sharp, McGoldrick and Lundstram.

Top marks for being 100 % with your prediction which I would never have seen coming in a million years after Villa.

Worked out really well , eh ?  ;)

That was a really weird performance. We were the better team for most of the game despite not really doing anything (they were doing even less) and then last 10 minutes they came to life and we were hanging on. I don't remember the last time I saw so many over-hit passes/crosses either.

First time in ages that we can look back at a game and say that we were fortunate. Lots of possession, but Birmingham made the best chances and looked very dynamic in short spells. We just didn’t look switched on when they broke. I do miss having Steadman in there.

I thought we were OK going forward. There were some very good balls into the box (especially first half) but the strikers didn’t quite seem to read them.

Oh well... I’ll remember that point next time we lose 0-1 having missed 27 chances.

You said he was lazy, he's not. Now you're changing tac. He's so lazy that he just tackled their left sided middy on the edge of our box.
He was defending a free kick what do you expect.

Thought the midfield trio of Duffy, Norwood and Fleck were all very poor. Strange that all three of them had their worst game in ages all at the same time. Washington looked very limited, Johnson had pace but not much else and Clarke wore gloves.

Rubbish wum attempt but for those that didn't go I will counter your 'views'

Duffy had a very good game. So did Norwood until around 15 to go. Fleck was ok but coming back from injury. Clarke did plenty of running about and closing down. He's just never in the right place to score.

Johnson put some excellent balls in and had some very pacy attacking runs down the wing. Fans moan when we don't put the ball in early enough from the wings but even when Johnson did just that tonight there were no strikers there. Again moan and groan from folk around me.

Norwood was obviously trying to hit the front post on some of the corners but you still get Muppets having a go at him for not beating the first man. We tried to mix the corners up. The attacking players were not getting into the right areas all night long.
Norwood had his worse match for but it was by no means very poor. He hit about 3 misplaced passes but you fail to note everything else he hit was perfect.

Thought Washington did just ok and gave Billy a much needed rest tonight.

Henderson was great again when called upon and Bash was my motm just beating Duffy.

You are obviously on the wind up and love posting negative crap.

We move on to a poor Preston side on Satdi and I hope we start putting some chances away.

That wasnt a classic match. Id go as far too say a bit boring at times. 1st half we were the better side like bristol city shouldve taken advantage but again failed. I cant complain about the quality of the final ball was very good. But neither Clarke or Washington could get on end of it

2nd half but for few good saves by Birmingham goalkeeper yes we couldve won. But overall we got very lucky, as the quality just tailed off as half wore on we were flat, no tempo & sloppy in possession. We nearly gifted them 2 goals through mistakes. Easily couldve lost to a quite ordinary Birmingham side

But that is a big opportunity lost to gain some points but onto Preston bottom of league. I would get worried if we had similar performance or couldnt score for a 3rd game

Weird how Norwood was seaminlgy so good (except once iirc) passing a moving ball, but his deadball work tonight was bloody awful.

Duffy seemed to be the only lad willing to take someone on at every opportunity. More of that from others would have unlocked the brummies. They were there for the taking in that first half.

Birmingham were great at shutting our options down when we took time to stay static on the ball. When we kept it moving, they found it difficult, but too often we took too long and they nullified us. Fair play to them. They did what they needed to and once they find their scoring boots, they'll go ok

Me and the lad had a decent night regardless of the score at BDTBL. Lovely to be taking my boy to the lane to watch the blades week after week. We've got it good boys and girls.

Thanks massively for the lift home RammyBlade!!!

No he wasn't. He tracked back. Leon Clarke is anything but lazy, maybe you chose the wrong wording, or maybe you have an agenda. He may be many things but he's one of the least lazy players in our squad. I have never understood the targeting of individual players when all the matters is the 'team'. If the team doesn't function then individuals can't shine and benefit.

Excuse me? Just on the wind up?

No wind up at all. I was posting what I saw and if that is “negative crap” then you might want to open your eyes during the game or at least start to respect other people’s opinions.

Duffy was poor. He spent most of the game on the wing for some reason and had little to no influence on the game. Probably the best of the middle three.

Fleck was also very poor, especially by his normally high standards. Whether he was recovering from injury or not does not change this fact. He flitted in and out of the game and had no real impact. Looked physically and mentally below par.

Norwood put in by far the worst performance he has in a Blades shirt and that was absolutely not limited to the last 15 minutes as you state. If you think that he played well for 75 minutes and only put in 3 poor crosses then I am afraid you are living in a dream world that has no basis in reality. He misplaced pretty much every long AND short ball for most of the second half and either hit the first man or cleared everybody with EVERY corner and wasted each free kick he took by generally over hitting it. It was a very strange and somewhat inexplicable performance from him.

Johnson showed some great athleticism getting down the line and put in a couple of decent crosses in the first half but faded badly. Didn’t seem to posses the ability to beat an aponent or find the right pass when not charging an 100mph.

Leon worked hard but yet again showed absolutely zero strikers instinct when presented with a chance to score. Obvious that he has no confidence and doesn’t seem willing to even take a shot on anymore. Whether continuing to play him hoping that he will eventually get himself back into scoring form is the right approach remains to be seen.

You can sit there with your rose tinted glasses all you like but that unfortunately doesn’t change what the rest of us had to sit through on the pitch last night and it wasn’t pretty.

Glad we got a point out of that in the end, as Brum were unlucky not to score on one of those breakaways.
We were guilty of losing possession on to many occasions and giving away Free Kicks.. Norwood is getting pelters, but he see's a lot of the ball, and although he overhit a few passes and his set pieces were poor, he did some good things aswell.. Fleck wasn't quite at it either.. Strikers were feeding off scraps.
Positives were; Hendo and the back line played well, particularly Bash and Egan, and a point and a clean sheet.. I expect Preston on Saturday to be another side who will look to be compact, sit deep and close us down and try and hit us on the break or set piece.. hopefully we can get a goal early and bring them out.

Thanks for your reply but I simply just don't agree with most of that !
