So after the excellent performance on Monday against Cardiff, (but ultimately disappointing result) it's the short trip to Barnsley in an early kick off. Obviously they are struggling at the wrong end of the table, and defeat for them today will probably all but assure their relegation. However in a Yorkshire derby nothing can be certain and we still need a good performance....

So....

Any team news? ;)

Stearman seemingly out?

Duffy recovered?

Keep it as close as possible to the same starting lineup?

Still not expecting an easy ride this afternoon but if we play anything like recently I feel pretty confident in a victory. 3-1 I'll suggest. Just be careful out there those that are travelling. These type of matches can bring the so savoury sides out....

UTB

No doubt, in a few years time, the Pit Dwellers will still be claiming that Utd have never taken more than 500 to sunny Oakwell and that we have always had a really shit away following...

It's like the land that time forgot. I always expect to see Doug McClure there whenever I venture up to the land of the banjo twangers.

The boys from the big city to turn up today and win handsomely is my prediction. C'mon you beautiful Blades!

Then you are a fool IMO. Nothing like a bit of pride before a fall. If Stearman is out then we may have a problem. Too many times have I seen sides down the bottom nick a goal and then defend until they get a second on the counter.

Ahhhh. You are thinking of Doug’s little known, and rarely screened, late career genre classic, The Land Where the Cleft Palate Man is King, and the Web Toed Women is His Queen (and Often His Sister), right ? Stirring stuff, and hugely underrated. Highly collectible poster, too:

0-2 Blades.

Unsavoury.

Desperate for us to win this one. Just love it LOVE IT, if we hammered another nail into their coffin.

Think Snowman rightly recommends caution

Last chance saloon starts today. We must take full points from today and Tuesday otherwise it is probably season over.

If Duffy Is fit then he should come in for either Evans or Lundstrum and apart from Wright coming in for Stearman same team as on Tuesday.

Wright for Stearman the only change. Duffy replaces him on the bench. Wilson replaces Donaldson as a sub.

Donaldson out all together.

Yep, just spotted that. Wonder if that’s simply tactical with no room with Sharp & Wilson on the bench. Odd though as CW always prefers bringing Donaldson on over Sharp for example. Sharp has to be leading the charts with most unused sub appearances – been on it loads, only subbed on 3 times.

Had his chance last few games and missed sitters. Wilson replacing him but he's not pulled many trees up either.
I reckon he's been dropped. Missed sitters of late like you said and I reckon Wilder's not happy about the free kick before Cardiff got their goal.

Billy might have missed a couple of straight forward chances recently, but its no coincidence she he brought him back in we have done better , rather than that disastrous run from November thru January where we couldn't score.

Billy misses a few in back to back games =dropped (again)
Leon doesn't score for ions and never loses his place.....

You may remember him from such derby victories as...

It's a shame we could all but relegate the Dingles today, they're easily my favourite Barnsley club!!

If utd can repeat Brentford & Cardiff performances. Most Importantly take our chances. we should beat Barnsley as comfortably as we shouldve in aug. Really shouldve been 3 or 4 nil but hung on for 1-0 because of miss chances

I see this as 1-0 to us at Half Time and then Duffy coming on after an hour and running riot. Holmes then comes on last 20 minutes for a showboating cameo and basically leaves Brooks and Duffy looking ordinary.

I like Barnsley F.C. and their fans and only wish it was some other team we happen to fire on all cylinders against. It's been coming for a while now and today's the day!!

Just off to put my bets on now. Win: Win -1, Win -2 and Win-3.

:)

Harsh on Donaldson. Came on v Brentford and nearly scored with a great run. Came on v Cardiff and held it up well and was inches from sealing it.

I thought Donaldson was very poor against Cardiff. Didn't hold it up much, missed a sitter and gave away the free kick from which they equalised.

Also, not his fault as such, but we changed how well played drastically when he came on. We tried to play percentage ball by holding the ball up in the corners when we had been ripping them apart. We surrendered the initiative, they caught on and they forced the draw.

One of the worst starts we've had this year. Passing shocking, should be 1 down already...

Hope they wake up soon.
