Poor Adkins has just had the equivalent of a lead weight slung across his shoulders for today.
Fresh from a hiding last week and desperate to put it right....the club sell the best forward!!!!
I personally think the sale will be worth it if the money goes towards new signings.....but I fear we've sold Murphy to fund Sharpes wages ( hope I'm wrong but history tells me otherwise)
A lot of the fans today will be unhappy before the start.....if chezzy get one early, I can see the crowd turning fast.

Yeah, will be a toxic atmosphere today if we go behind...and who can blame the fans this time around.

I feel for Adkins...this job will be a true test of his positivity.

This will be one slog of a season for all involved due to the boards lack of planning and foresight, unless they reinvest in the next 2 weeks this season is a write off.

So frustrating.

What we need Borbokis is another Borbokis...........seriously, they had better buy what's needed quickly ( a defence)... or it will be another controversial season I'm afraid.

But there shouldn't be pressure.....

We as fans need to actually give this manager time to settle and build a team, we need to take a note out of liverpool fans book and do what they did with rodgers and just give him time to get his team together, without moaning at every slip...

Its coming to light that murphy wanted out, and when that happens what can you do about it?

Please spend the money where we all know its needed mr adkins.. that's all.

Booing the shit out of the players and manager seems like the favoured option at the moment.

But if we'd acted over the summer we wouldn't be in this situation.

Selling Murphy late on a Friday, he can't even play for them today. We've basically got him fit over preseason for Brighton. It's a shambles

When did he request the transfer?

Yeah
I've seen Liverpool stuffed 4-0 away at Gillingham and lose at home IN THE LEGUE to Fleetwood Fucking Town AND lose at home for the first time to Crewe AND languished in He third tier of English football for five years. It's exactly analogous isn't it

S'pose getting stuffed at Stoke is Liverpool's equivalent......

I can really see that helping spurring the players on who remain with and want to play for us.

Negativity is just one (of the many) reasons why I have not renewed my season ticket this season.

The players are encouraged at the start of every game. The crowd only begin to get on the player's backs overall when we can't do the basics or there is a lack of commitment from some players. I don't think negativity in these situations is unjust, considering it is their job. If people were moaning at me, it would make me try even harder to prove a point.

Maybe when more money is thrown at you, you start to care less. I don't know.

Erm. They won 1-0 - a cracker from Cutinhio

Are you in a time warp somewhere else this weekend moby or are you on the defensive bandwagon just to show some belligerence?

Pleased you still have such faith.

It's not the Murphy sale, per se, that has got my goat - it's the timing and the blatant non-planning beforehand. Not addressing the gaping holes over the closed season. SwissBlade has articulated it very well today.

I couldn't really give a toss about Murphy to be honest. He's "decent" but if he is our best player then that's a symptom of how bad we are. We need winners, not just a fancy Dan that plays when it suits him and shrinks into the shadows when the going gets tough.

Just not convinced we are going to do anything that will make a difference and the signs are already telling me that this season could actually be worse than last years unacceptable effort :o

Well lets assess whats happened so far. Last year its well known the defence was poor. The ratio of goals scored to goals conceded from set plays was abysmal. Added to that probably the two best defenders Brayford and Harris are injured for some considerable time. Solution sign no one. Make one of the main culprits for last years performances club captain, which virtually guarantees him a start and send them out to battle. Result we get tonked 4 nil and concede from 3 set plays. We then draft in a panic buy from Birmingham reserves. who may or may not be ok.

Central midfield we were overloaded, Baxter, Scougall, Reed, Wallace, Wallace, Coutts,Cuvelier, Basham,Dimaio. Solution do nothing

Wingers. Had ok cover here but with Flynn out its a bit threadbare if you consider Adams is starting to look more like a striker, and JCR tends to break down injured now and again. Solution bring in Woolfiord who at the moment looks unfit, clumsy on the ball and slow and now sell your player of the season and your main source of an attacking threat. Perhaps we couldn't stop him but wouldn't it have been wise to at least think he might want to leave and have options ready. Why not let him leave after we have replaced him.

All in all it just looks a bit of a f*ck up at the moment and we are now going to be fighting fires from here on in instead of being prepared at the start of the season.

I think Nigel is going to have to get his motivational speaking mantra in overdrive over the coming weeks I fear.

Not disagreeing with your sentiment. Don't think timing is good. Wonder why Murphy has left it until this week to put in transfer request. Just on the Liverpool-Stoke point - how did they go on last game of last season and what was the Liverpool fans reactions to it?

Problem is we don't know our first eleven and even those who think they can name the team, the team picked will have gaps/weak links that need plugging/swapping.

Sorry bout not replying too a few questions I was too busy celebrating...

Phipps has written on his fb page that murphy submitted a written request thus triggering the clause in his contract that allowes him to make the decision to go.

And yes,.rodgers has had his bad days at the office too...keep the faith, And let's hope the space murphy left gets given to che .... every cloud

Good summation of Murphy, good player in a team doing well, not someone to dig in during hard times.

A direct replacement is 3rd on my shopping list after

1 ) a goalie
2) a CB
3 Wide midfielder

About 10 players need to leave as well giving a squad of 25
