Just thought I'd bump this with an alternative angle of the assist. Apologies for the quality as it's a screenshot of a video, but for Cranie to get the elevation and accuracy on that cross from the below position almost defies the laws of physics. Brilliant piece of skill, assist of the season if such an award exists.

I thought it was amazing. To even keep the ball in was a feat in itself but to get it high enough for Dowell to get a header on it, brilliant.

He did - it was actually a really poor ball from Freeman.

A better ball and Crainie would have been sliding it across the box and maybe a different end result.

He did - it was actually a really poor ball from Freeman.

To be fair to him that’s probably the area that he’d anticipate Basham getting to normally, but yes given where Cranie was it wasn’t a great pass. That said, a better ball and the defender might have cut out whatever ball Cranie hit – I think Cranie is probably just trying to get any elevation possible on it from that stretch rather than pick anyone in particular out.

Whatever, it worked out brilliantly.
