Claiming to be Taylor would be right. I'm sure if any of the players did leak the appointment they'd be in a bit of trouble. Broadcasting the fact on Facebook in your own name wouldn;t be the brightest move Hold on, we're talking about footballers here. Probably is him.

Robins doesn't exactly inspire me. But compared to some names mentioned on the so called shortlist, I see him as a breath of fresh air

Sad really! :(

apparantly, some wendy boards are saying Wilsons got the job.

Then tonight, he drops like a stone in the betting!

1/5 at the moment. It aint looking good ffs! :(

What do they know then? They are only fed the same rumours that we get fed.

I think Wilson is a red herring so we are grateful for whoever we get as long as its not him

1/4 this morning!

There will be fucking uproar if he gets the job, McCabe has a great chance to fix things at BDTBL and he's fucking it up big style with the fans if he appoints Wilson. Wilson makes Adams look like Mourinho in my eyes!

I was told last night by an ex player that a manager has been appointed. Not exactly news, but thought I'd add it anyway. :)

Wilson would not be a step in the right direction for me. He's not really pulled up any trees and hasn't got a good a standing in the game, even when compared to Robins, which is saying something.

If we get Wilson, I will for the first time be on the side of the McCabe Out camp.

It will genuinely be a ridiculous appointment.

Mark Robins i been told will get the job good luck to him the mirror newspaper are reporting this.

Young Manager but hasn't done alot, where ever he has been at.

Didn't he save Fergie's career at Man U many years ago?

Maybe Fergie could loan us a few players....

He did. So in my book Fergie owes him big time. POGBA on loan for season and Man Utd pay his wage seems fair enough to me

I'd disagree. Rotherham nearly got in the play offs despite a huge points deduction. They then would have gone up if he'd stayed the full season IMO. Went to Barnsley who budget wise you would expect to be relegation fodder and took them to their best position in years. Which is relative success.

I think he might be a very good appointment but I must say his mannerism isnt to my liking.

I wouldnt be that disappointed with him considering we are a 3rd Div club now.
He speaks his mind and doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly.

Time will tell but I think it could work out pretty well.

Warnock's mannerisms were not to my liking but he was one of our better managers. Mannerisms and football managers seem to go together. I'd settle for results - and, hopefully, some decent football.

I've posted on several other threads that I cant understand why we are all so ambivalent (myself included) about the possibility of Robins getting the job.

One of the criticisms levelled at him is that he hasnt taken club to play-offs or promotion.

In the case of Rotherham he took on a club in financial dire straits with a 15 point deduction and almost took them to promotion, he then took over at Barnsley with him sitting bottom of the Championship and has built them into a solid championship side.

He has quietly been learning his trade in difficult circumstances, but does seem to have something about him.

With regards to him being a bit of a knob, I am sure that is an accusation which could probably be levelled at most successful managers, Fergie, Mourinho and Clough included.

It usually the managers that are too nice that tend to fail.

What we also have to remember is that he left Barnsley because of budget disagreements - hopefully that has prompted him to get McCabe to committ to a bigger budget for him if he was to become our new manager.

And our most successful manager of recent times is the biggest knob of all lets be honest.

Happy with Robins if we get him.

We have to remember we are Sheffield United in Division 1. Not the Sheffield United who could have could not have been bidding for the play offs in the championship this season. He is young and ambitious and this is a great platform for him; he seems to have alot of strong will about him and players seem to like him even if reporters and some fans don't

Certainly alot better appointment than Wilson would ever have been in my opinion.

I am half excited half expecting 'IF' this is true

I think that part of the problem is that unlike Pembo and RDM, we havent had the chance to hear what Mark Robins vision and philisophy is yet

Robins gripe at Barnsley were that the fans were expecting him to compete higher up the table at the same time his board were tightening the purse strings. He couldnt win.

Whilst there will be budget issues at United, you would expect that it would be condusive to the level of success that is expected of him by the fans.

Regardless of what people will say, we will be expected to be challenging for promotion this season.

I read that on Wikipedia too and it simply isn't true. They actually had a 17 point deduction and eventually finished 14th.
They were 21 points away from automatic promotion and even without the points deduction they would have only finished 5th.
A 5th place finish for a team that's just been relegated is no massive achievement in my book.
Incidentally, Exeter under Tisdale were the team that finished 21 points ahead of Rotherham and Rochdale under Hill made the play-offs that season.
Both had built their teams up from a much lower starting position than Robins had.

I also keep hearing that he left Rotherham at the top of the table and almost certainties for promotion.
They had in fact only played 6 league matches when he left them, so promotion that season was hardly "nailed on".

If you look at Barnsley's record over the last few seasons, it's been 20th, 20th, 20th, 19th and now 18th.
So Robins has improved their position by two league places after three seasons.
At that rate, they could have been play-off contenders by the turn of the decade!

He's not the worst manager out there but there are others who've achieved far more with greater restrictions and we don't seem to have even considered them.
