Give him until the end of next season and if he's still playing regularly this time next season extend it again.

And potentially lose out as be might decide to go elsewhere where he can get a 2 and a half year deal from some other club?

After reading the stir article it seems that im with Tony Currie on this one in seeing that he is a very very important player for us. Hes not over the hill in any shape or form and provided he's not expected to go 42 games a season next and after he will be able to start most games for the next two seasons after this, I have no doubt.

He's a clever player and provided his wages demands aren't extortionate he would be a canny signing to have on board for a couple more years.

If Utd lose him....you will see that will probably have to spend a good chunk of money to replace him or get anything close to being as good.

Get it done Utd and reward the lad. He won' let us down and will be a clever and important player for us for the duration of his new contract - it' not like he only has searing pace to offer which will dissipate over the next 24 or so months.

I don't understand why he's not over the hill in any way but he rarely finishes a game. I'd be surprised if any club offered him two and a half years on the money we'll be offering him. If he's still playing for us as a regular in the 2019/20 season then our recruitment will have been poor.

I think it links with the fitness threads. CW demands the mythical 110% from everyone and obviously feels that Duffy has given his all around the hour mark.

If we have the luxury of being in front you can set your watch at 4.20 and see him get hooked. He will sometimes stay on longer if we are chasing and he is being particulary effective. When he does come off he seems to take it well, which may mean he and CW have a 'plan'.

As you say though he's not over the hill and is only a year older than a certain U Bolt Esq, who was still ripping it up until this year.

I didn't actually say he's not over the hill, that was Wiz, who I was responding to. Personally, I'd be wary of giving another two and a half years to someone who can only play for around an hour but I'm happy whatever Wilder does.

Bolt's on drugs, just hasnt been caught. IMO.

Whilst many might not nod sagely at your words, others will be aware that Crab Industries Inc have a highly paid professional team of libel experts on hand. They are only seconds away from getting the Discovery keys and coming to "have a word".

Big Vern.

You forget where my manor is. My lad Terry will sort 'Big Vern' out before the third ad break.

Give Duffers a 10year deal, testimonial, stand name + statue.

No derby day moment shall ever be as sweet as the one he gave us.

Duffers tends to be subbed in around the 73rd/77th minute in recent games (usually for Carruthers) but played a full 90 v Bolton. Hardly a 60 minute player.

Must be getting fitter ;)

By the way, spell check suggested i use the following spelling for Carruthers .......... catheter

:D

Giddings just stated that we are trying to negotiate a new contract with Duffy and he has 18months left.
Surprising, if he has 18 months I would up his wages on existing contract as a reward, but not extend until we see how he does over next twelve months

Surprised Wilder said he has another 18 months. Means we have all our main squad under contract I believe for next season at least - only one I was not sure about is Jake Wright - he may be out of contract

I know there are a few that have been on loan who you would imagine would not be extended as it stands - namely Long, Wilson, Hussey, Reed, Whiteman

I think you are right about all of those except Whiteman. I think they still have hopes he will develop. They opened contract talks before he went to Doncaster although I’ve not seen any confirmation I’d be surprised if it wasn’t extended. We’d be looking to sell him now if it wasn’t.

Duffy's contract talks but still has 18 months to go. It all sounds a bit suspicious to me. Obviously using the threat of the January TW to get a massive Brooks type contract
