Mardy Phil Parkinson

I've had a few drinks to finish the celebrations so I'm not at my sharpest but am I right in assuming that, despite just seeing Parkinson on Sky saying they've taken more fans away than anyone else, the actual fact is that the total crowd size at their away games is slightly higher than ours?

He is a tool but he is right - sort of. This is the average attendance of the away games, not necessarily the number of away fans taken.

The problem with that stat is that the teams with good home gates are gong to be at a disadvantage. None of our away games are going to be 20k+ and look how low Bradford are.

I refer you to my explanation ;)

What a load of old shite, there are loads of variables that could affect attendances throughout the season, that have nothing to do with the football on offer.

Why not produce a table of which team coach travelled the most miles during the 2016/17 season, that would be of a similar relevance

The facts are clear. He's lying. I think he probably knows that with how he worded it.

So their away full match attendances were slightly higher. Jesus even Wendies will admit we've been more attractive to watch so Gray's explanation sums it up perfectly.

If Bolton finish above us next season I will perform oral sex on Eric Pickles.

After their early season claims and boasts, plus their embarrasing shouts towards the end, Mardy Parky and their freshly botoxed owner are clutching at every straw they can. The one statistic that really matters is the points difference between first and second place this year.

The "biggest club in the division" finished a poor second, being chased down until the last day while we celebrated in style.

Apparently in the local interview he said it again and even added "and that includes Sheffield United".

Attention to detail not his strong point I don't think. Probably why his tactics consist totally of "get a corner and head it in"

First of all I applaud GrayBlade's analysis. What a pathetic statement from Narky Parky. Is that the best ill thought out statistic he could cling on to? No wonder his style of play is inept and will be unsustainable in the Championship.

Secondly, and I know it doesn't aid the analysis in this thread, but the Blades have an outstanding number of fans in exile that cannot get official away tickets. I for one. So for many games we get in by hook or by crook. Secreted amongst the home fans, gate crashing corporate areas etc... There were several of us at Brizzle this year in their corporate restaurant, counted as home fans. Obviously other clubs have fans that do this, but as most of our away tickets are (rightly) sold out to BL faithful, we exiles have to find our own way in, more than others in the league.

Anyway, at the risk of boring you all further, I would not be surprised to find that the reported official "away" support for the Blades is some 10% or so higher than stated if it included the subterfuging exiles.

I will always remember the thread asking "where are you watching tonight" for one of the sold out away fixtures this season. Posts came in from all over the world, not just the UK. Made me proud to be a Blade in exile.

You have to wonder why he's lying about us on his day of celebration. Something has really got under his skin regarding United this season and he just can't seem to let it go.

Thank fuck we never got him. It was worth the Adkins era just for that

What he means is that Bolton as an away team have attracted the highest average gates in league 1. They just beat us into 2nd spot. So one could argue they had the most pulling power for oppostion fans.

But it's misleading because there was 22,000 at the MK v Bolton match as MK made it FREE entry.
Also when Bolton played at the Lane there was 27K where as when we played at the Reebok much smaller. Take away those 2 anomalies and ours is higher.

1st Boltons away matches have averaged 9,300
2nd Our away matches have averaged 9,000.
3rd was Northampton who's away matches averaged 8,400

Also, Bolton is in the middle of a number of shithole Lancashire mill towns - Oldham, Rochdale, Bury - who would have taken a lot more fans to Bolton than the two men and a dog they brought to BDTBL.

But that doesn't mean anything in the context of this debate.

That is fucking hilarious. What a pudding!

Thank fuck that we didn’t appoint him as manager!

I actually give very little shit about attendances. It’s a nice little side point that our support is so strong but in terms of what matters, it’s the 1% compared to the 99% that happens on the pitch. We’ve massively outclassed them on the pitch. Wilder and co have massively outclassed them in terms of their media approach. And although it matter little, our support as massively outclassed them home and away yet the pathetic little troll decides to publicly lie about it?!

Anyone would think he was a pig the way he brings it up and feels the need to lie about it.

Okay, I'll rephrase that.

I'd rather do something I wouldn't like doing and that would be problematic, messy and possibly embarrassing than have Phil Parkinson managing my club.

That better?
Almost worth its own thread; what would you rather do than have Parky as manager? Shit in your hands then clap? Nail your knackers to a table? Wear a pig shirt?

All these attendances baring one are when the away team visited Bramall Lane which one is it ?...... the Sheffield United entry is from our visit to Bradford City.

From the EFL website - apologies if already posted:

- The biggest average away following at games was for Leeds United (2,829), followed by Sheffield Wednesday (2,521) and Middlesbrough (2,501). Sheffield United (1,622) had the biggest away following in Sky Bet League One, and Portsmouth (1,380) topped the away following table in Sky Bet League Two

Doesn't seem right to me

Possibly because we got small allocations at the smaller grounds and the official figures can't include the Blades sat in the home ends, it will just be a record of tickets sold for the away ends.

They aren't this season's figures.

Our average away following this season is 2444.

Which is why it includes boro, something I should have spotted immediately. :)

So, with our secret supporters the real figure must be well over 2,500. Impressive.

Does this crap parky stat take into account the 'please come and watch us pummel crap chezzie for a fiver' game that Bolton did?
