I'll let you into a secret when the Prince said the real investment kicks in when we are in the Championship it was a load of bollocks, we really are shopping from the bargain bucket. I very much doubt we will pay anything near a million quid for any player, same as last season Wilder will have to generate his own transfer kitty and first job will be to get shut of Brayford.

Can't see us signing him.

Barnsley are doing almost a complete close season rebuild job . That Heckingbotton will have done a right job if he keeps them mid table . I'm surprised no teams have been in for him

We're cap-doffing to fucking Barnsley now?

I thought I'd seen it all...

Another lad plucked out of Non league.

Saw him for Buxton before he got his move to Halifax (played with Lee Gregory), then moved to Barnsley where he has developed into a top centre half.

Will end up in the Premiership, like Alfie Mawson, Non league-top flight.

Next one will be Sean Raggett (Lincoln City)

Nope, just commenting that they scout well and acquire the right type of players. People have also mentioned the good job that Heckingbotham has done.

Nobody is taking any caps off. Maybe small nods of acknowledgement, but no-one has said they are better than us.

Only in S2 (the Pinchy's imagination bit), could this be seen as cap doffing.

Shouldn't you be out in the fields collecting straw? You will have to build another army for the coming season, to have them ready to knock down again.

Always makes me laugh when the devils get to work. It will be the pigs. It was the same as when Bannon, Hooper etc were linked a few years ago. He will end up at pigsborough and we will end up missing out on a player we were never in for,.

I know we're talking about the dingles in jest... but if we can do what they did in the first half of last season I will be pretty happy.

So actually I give them credit where credit is due... whichever way you look at it they're the model we're following (hopefully up until they flogged everyone - which to be fair we'll struggle not to if in the same boat e.g. Sunderland offer 7mill for Fleck in January).

Said it before but the difference in a 500k midfielder from league 1 and a 5mill midfielder in the championship is sometimes just a good 6months in the championship...

Most 'established' championship players going for bag loads of money weren't born established championship players. We need a bit of luck and good scouting but I'm hopeful we can get what we need from the pool we're fishing in.

Oh I don't know Booker 4, most blades seem to think we will consolidate this season, meaning we will finish above some established championship clubs.
Wether one of those are Barnsley or not, we will have to wait and see. But given a choice of a 2/3 year contract with either club, I know which one I would rather be with in 2/3 years time.

I'm not saying that we won't do well mate. I just don't think we are yet in the markets for the better Championship players. A fee of £3.5m is beyond where we're at currently, based on the other buys. Next pre-season, or even in January, if we are exceeding expectations I can see us spending more but for now I think we'll be limited to smaller buys.

I agree, but can see us being above or at least level with most of the championship clubs, in terms of spending,
As long we stay in this league for a few seasons.
Unless CW can do it on his present budget of course.

Why do you think we'll spend more next season? Our income won't have increased. I'm not having a go, I'm interested. My view is that we should spend as much as we can this season to make sure we stay up. And to capitalise on our momentum. If we don't spend big this season, what's going to change? Don't believe this crap about Prince's mates 'investing'. What are they going to get for their 'investment'? Kev's shares?

I assume we will be on Sky once or twice and get some TV money?

Don't get me wrong I don't want United to throw money around but I'm beginning to worry a little that our targets in league one and league to two seem to be beyond us . We might not need them but we are apparently trying to little avail.

No chance, Barnsley want big money, seen £5mil floating around we won't pay that

£5 Million ??????
Jesus !!!!!!

We wouldn't pay that for a player if we were in the Premier League

You know there isn't a footballer on the planet worth that kind of money and we won't pay more than what WE consider them to be worth

£5 MILLION for kicking a leather bag of air about, who ever heard such stupidity

I don't really go along with the theory that the longer we are in the championship the more money we will have to invest in the playing side of the club. Yes, whilst we are in the championship we have far more income than we have had whilst we have been hob nobbin about in the first division. However whilst our income goes up....our expenditure will also go up. Players wages which we have to pay to attract players who want to get paid on a par with other players and clubs in the championship being the main component for expenditure.

If you look at the annual financial results of the vast majority of clubs in the championship they are all losing a chunk of cash year on year and are propped up by rich owners. I would imagine that we will continue to trade on a deficit each year...hence our two owners are looking for new investment.

The same happens with clubs who get relegated from the premiership. They have a shit load more income...and a shit load more expenditure each year and invariably post losses each year. I just don't see Utd being in the championship next year and suddenly having £6m sat in the bank account whoch we have salted away from this season, for next seasons war chest. What we get in this season...we will have spent (and more).

Same reason why I don't go with the theory that we have fallen behind other clubs financially cos we've been out of it so long. We haven't fallen behind financially cos of lack of earning income. We've just not had a stupid amounts of cash pumped into us like clubs who have stinkingly rich benefactors or clubs receiving premiership parachute payments - with both types gambling hugely to get onto the premiership money gravy train.

On the above basis, I'm all for us spending as much as is reasonable now whilst we have momentum and CWs stock is high with players.

Come January, Fleck, Coutts, O'Connell and Freeman could be worth 5 million each. If Lavery gets a run of games, bagging 10-15 before Christmas then he'll instantly be worth 5-10 million.

Will be interesting to see what happens if we do actually have a great start to the season, like Barnsley. Hopefully we wouldn't sell every half decent fucker like they did.
