Hmmm...not sure which of these games I remember, but it was my only visit to Field Mill and perhaps the game which instilled the Blades camaraderie most firmly within me.
I was about 12. It was an evening game and we drove down from Sheffield after my dad finished work. It was chucking it down with rain all the way, and a few miles from the ground, the car broke down. We both got soaked to the skin fixing it (well, my Dad fixed it, and I watched) and we got to the ground just in time.
We bought a programme (My dad always got a programme, home or away. This was before the days when the internet told you everything you needed to know for free, but he still does it) and I still have it somewhere - it got soaked and torn, the pages stuck together and almost illegible, but I kept it for the memories. Into the ground, and it was a low open terrace at one end, packed with Blades. The rain was relentless the whole night, and the match was pretty awful (might have been a 1-1 draw - not sure) but I'll never forget it for the Blades fans never stopping singing from the first minute on, and everyone 'bouncing' for the whole game (long before Wednesday fans took it up) if only to keep warm.
