As I have said in here before, Deadbat's rating scores are not the same as the ratings we remember from The People and News of the World that we are used to.

4= stinker
5= poor
6 = below average
7 = average
8 = good
9 = excellent
10 = out of the world

I think Deadbat's rating of 5 is "average". He gives ratings of 0 quite often and him giving a 9 is as rare as a hen's teeth.

Not sure I have ever given 0/10?

5 is average as 5 is average out of 10 so kind of makes sense 😉

Just never understood why on a rating system of 0-10, the papers never bothered with 0-3

Deadbat only gave Jack O’Connell a 9.5 when we beat Brentford 2-0 after Madine had been sent off.

there may be evidence to prove me wrong but as far as I am aware a rating of 10 has never been given and if the aforementioned O’Connell performance wasn’t deemed worthy of a 10 then I suspect nothing ever will!
Clarke 9.5 v Hull too 😉

I have never given a 0 or a 10. Pathetic I know!

The corner thing is the only thing I saw from last season that concerns me. We look to be sticking to this zonal marking system that's been our undoing at set pieces for a few seasons.

Other than that, a very professional performance even if the opposition is a level below and put a poor showing in. These are the sort of games that fizzled out to a 0-0 last couple of seasons. More importantly, and I've not seen anyone else pick up on this, but the players kept going until the end - we don't score that third last season because the players are hanging out of their arse by that point.

Cannon is still absolutely shite and 3/10 is very generous. he could have been sent off in the first 5 and it wouldn't have made a difference to the result.
Like you, I was also very encouraged by the fact that the team seemed full of running to the final whistle - I thought the same about the game in Germany, where we finished very strongly. I can’t remember us ever doing that last season. Early days, and preliminary views based on a couple of fairly low octane games, but I’m hoping that the pre-season work might have reduced our problems of fading away after an hour.

'McGuiness 6/10 - Scored a well taken header and was solid with no mistakes I can think of.'

Surely if he made no mistakes, was solid AND weighed in with a goal that warrants at minimum a 7/10?

Oh and a 3/10 for Cannon kind of renders the scoring as ridiculous. If you're going to keep the reports coming then you have to shelve your bias otherwise you can dish out the scores before the game.
Oof.

Agree with report Deadbat it mirrors my assessment of the performance. After all the off field problems it was good to see a positive result. Canon continues to frustrate. He may scrape a 4 rather than 3 thats moving from poor to below average on my scoring but his lack of physicality is apparant for all to see when you compare him with the much less experienced One.

It was a win that the club needed after the Hamer news and lack of transfer activity. Pleased that McGuiness put in a decent shift as we'll need his aerial ability until replacements come through the door. Tanganga still has a habit of misjudging the flight of the ball as he nearly let in Oates. Having a big CB partner compensates for this. Score of 6 was correct imo. 6 being good on my scoring.

Rothwell was more mobile and forward looking than Reidewald. Peck benefited from that.

Brum will be a test. We'll get some idea of how we are going to progress this season from that game. Unless there are more incomings at CB in particular then I fear Benjamin Blooms forecast of a 15th position finish will prove to be acurate.

Agree with 3. I can’t see much that he does that the defender can’t deal with. Not fast, strong, tall, evasive or cunning. His finishing isn't bad, but he doesn’t get past or away from defenders to be in goal scoring positions enough because he isn’t fast strong…
I am hoping he finds his “shooting from outside the box” boots.

Its my opinion. You are entitled to yours.

Thought he laid it off a couple of times but outside if that he was completely ineffective. Lost out physically, rarely held it up, made poor choices and when given chances near the end, took an age and missed them all. He does not know when to come shirt, not when he needs to go long. Hes not fast, strong and today proved he is a nothing player. One did more in 20 minutes in terms of link play and looking a threat.

Maybe you could argue 4/10 at a push but he was our worst player by some distance for me. People keep making excuses gor him. He needs to be in a two, he just needs a run of games, or players don't spot his runs. I am not seeing anything at all? Anyone else think Im too harsh, happy to discuss but if he cannot stand out against a likely Lg 1 struggle with lots of space, its a worry.
I think 3 for Cannon is spot on. I will him to come good every game and we briefly saw what he can do for 2 or 3 games after Wednesday away last season, but yesterday was just same old. He was lacking in almost every aspect of the game yesterday and I think we need to move him on with our best wishes if we can. I don’t think he’ll be good the club this season or the club for him. Sometimes it’s like that.
