He's put Freeman and Blackman in hospital in recent matches (Stearman and Whiteman had better watch out - a pattern is emerging), gave a soft penalty away v Wolves, slipped for the second goal in S6, and v Reading and Leeds clearing headers have gone to the opposition and led to goals. There is a good case for putting each of these events down largely to luck rather than error (shit happens), but I hope he is getting looked after properly as a youngster learning the game. Everything suggests that the Lane is a good place to be at the moment and that he is surrounded by people who will keep his confidence high. He also has the benefit of the crowd being behind the team 100%; he is now due some good luck.

Yeah its the mistakes with youngster players that can happen. Probably difficult for him to keep confident considering he has crippled half of the squad by accident.

Correct, but he’s also playing well and shouldn’t be hard on himself.

Some unlucky opponent is really going to cop for it from him at some point.

He put 'Blackman in hospital' how, by standing still???

I'd have to look at the Freeman one again but it seemed to be a melee where Freeman dove into a throng of players...I'll agree with the headers, that second ball ( when hoofed in) has been a bit of weakness but not only from CCV, think O'Connell did one at t'pigs which led to their goal?

He's not the finished article by a long shot so maybe Stearman will be back Saturday, but I do think he's done very well since coming in.

This is what happens with young players.

Personally I'd rather our own players make those mistakes than other clubs' players.

Up to press I don't see anything in Vickers that warrants the 'investment' when Wright is on the bench or not even there in the last match.

These are decisions which determine managers' success or failure - key decision to exclude Wright but football is about now, next month and next season. not just now.

Wright is 31 I think. I honestly think he could play in the Premier League next season if that came to pass but Wilder must think that's not on. Thing is Vickers is unlikely to be still with us next season anyway but sometimes the whole relationship has to be nurtured just in case it comes to pass.

I'm really not keen on CCV - I think he's very poor on the ball and has made some key errors in defence. Still got a lot to learn. Would rather Wright play there.

Wilder tells the players to go out express themselves and give it their all! he's certainly doing that, he's a good player learning his game and he's getting better, he will make mistakes all payers do, he's committed and in my view for his age doing amazingly well, because of how's he's built we forget that the lad is 19! give the lad a break.

I can understand him doing Freeman, but doing Blackman as well suggests he fancies his chance in goal?

Rumour has it he is made of concrete!

Joking aside, very impressed with this lad. He can play right back or central defence and he is strong and composed on the ball. Another great signing by Wilder.

I think he’s done well a good young CB that has added to the back line & given us someone who can deal with a big target man , I was a bit concerned after the Boro & Cardiff matches where I thought Gestede & Zahore caused us some probs . Had an acid test at Bolton and their aerial bombardment and played very well there and well since .
I’m not gonna say a certain starter as we have some good options at CB but horses for courses , he,ll more than play his part this season

I should have made it clearer that I think he has been very unlucky (and those who have collided with him have been even more unlucky). He has probably made fewer errors than JOC did last autumn. But it would be surprising if he is not having some doubts, as he has not got experience to fall back on.
