Not suggesting Atkins should go. Just in case/in theory.

Remember Erik Bakke? Played for Leeds (and Villa i think).

Currently managing Strogndal in the Norwegian second division and his team finished top of the table, 9 points clear after 30 games.

Old pal of mine works in Scandinavia a lot and has a base of sorts in the area. The company he consults for are a major sponsor so he goes to quite a few games.

He reckons Bakke would go down a storm in England but it's maybe too soon for a Premier league job.

Manager Suggestion: Give Adkins 18 months to show he can't live up to his C.V. Don't even think about replacing him any sooner, although it might well become an issue a few months before.

If you are Phipps or whoever succeeds Brannigan, you should always be looking out for the next manager recruit; hopefully never to be needed but just in case our manager gets a better offer too, it happens!!

So Bergen Blade is he any good?

Bakke has just managed his home town club for one season. They won promotion back to the top division, but were also one of the favourites. Too early for him to move on.

Sogndal is a small town (7500 people), but they have good football traditions. We signed Jostein Flo from them. Sogndal vs Blades in 1994 was the first Blades match I went to, for some reasons played in Byrkjelo, an hour's drive from Sogndal.

So we've actually got someone within our set up already who's been more successful in Norway than Bakke? I think this other bloke played for Leeds too.

I thought I recognised the name 'Sogndal'.
Stunning scenery.

"I deserve a ticket for Old Trafford."

Shameless.

We if he has had any degree of success recently, he won't be coming to us that's for sure......

Anyway on a serious note I am more than comfortable leaving Adkins in charge for the immediate future. I still think that should he be allowed to offload and recruit in January, he will deliver the goods. All is not lost at Bramall Lane.

It's Nige Adkins for me but if we can't get him I like the look of that pinocchio fella from spurs - he likes us, he likes our atmosphere :p

My, that brings back memories! I worked across the fjord (and yes, I'm still pining for it!) in Lærdal and went to Sogndal for a match. In Norway, just about everywhere you look presents scenery like that in Bergen's pic. Bloodly expensive, though!

Not sure that Bakke would be a consideration. The standard at Sogndal's level is like BBC's Friday night FA Cup coverage...

Manager suggestion? Garry Monk. Pathetic results this season which should ensure a seamless transition.
