I can’t help but think the next three games could well make or break our season. If we get 5 points or more, we will likely be in or around the last playoff place and will still be within a potentially catchable distance of the top 2. With some squad surgery to come to improve us further, there could once again be a real belief about the place and the feelgood factor could come flooding back. Then we go to Man U with belief and a nothing to lose attitude.

If we get 3 or less, given the six point nature of the three fixtures we will have a really big mountain to climb just to try to sneak into the top 6. We go to Man U thinking we’re gonna get a tonking and convinced we need a massive overhaul to stand a chance of getting anywhere near the playoffs.

Very fine margins could decide it. We need as much as possible to go in our favour over the next three big games. Goals in off Billy’s shoulder, dodgy decisions in our favour, cynical professionalism. Wastefulness from the opposition. All have played their part in our mini-revival and we’re gonna need more of the same.

I will take scrappy, boring, 1-0 wins for all of them pal.

Let's say we did have a proper unbeaten run but the wins were mainly 1-0. At some point there'd be mutterings of discontent about the football not being "exciting" enough. The dissatisfaction would just shift to another area. I think it will continue to be like this until promotion is eventually achieved.

It will all depend on how much the fans moan wont it ?

I'm not convinced about that. If we're winning consistently, there's very little in the way of discontent. The problem with the tight cagey style we've resorted to is that when it doesn't work, it looks absolutely horrendous and is taken even worse than the 3-2 defeats. While it's working the fans will be onside.

And after...

You would like to think there will be an inner believe growing. It's no coincidence that the return of Edgar and the beard along with the change of style has had an effect.
Love or loath NC he did the same "OK lads back to basics, stop conceding and try and Nick a goal" look where that got us, 11 on the bounce was it.
Wigan is a good test they will be expected to attack, pretty much the same as we are at home, and could well leave some gaps. Step forward sharp and done, smash, grab, bye !!

All teams need thr rub to win games
whenever we lose the other teams had the rub

other teams get dodgy decisions , , ropey reffing ,
when we lost to millwall he back headed it blind
no different to Billys goal
