Sat with a few Charlton mates and they were laughing at how bad maguire was. Overheard one former United manager before the game saying the United centre backs were "piss poor".

Sat with a Chelsea mate and he thought Maguire was excellent today. Other than the moment he rashly shot badly wide from distance, and I agree. Defensively we were near faultless I thought. Each of the back 4 did well.

Wasn't sat with anyone special, because I'm not a "look-at-me-cunt", but from my poor man's seat, Maguire looked excellent today. Apart from that shot, which was clearly youthful exuberance!

I wish that I could see what all the fuss is about with Maguire. I'm constantly told how good he is and that we must do everything we can to keep hold of him. I've probably only seen him live about 15 times, but he doesn't appear anything special to me. I'm not in any way slagging him off because he is competent enough, I just can't see the world class defender that others appear to. He is young though and we should strive to keep our young players.

Thing is, you don't have to be that special to make it as a central defender in England. Terry? Ferdinand (both)? Cahill? And then there's your bog-standard 'stoppers' who make a living in the PL such as Zat Knight, Shawcross and Senderos. (Apologies if I've omitted any over-paid clogger.)

I laughed because Chris Powell and the rest of his bench were almost on the pitch claiming it was a foul(like they were with most decisions yesterday) and the 4th official had his arms out stretched as if saying 'what did he do wrong' which resulted in Powell stomping away like a spoilt brat

As regards the searching pass, he used to do it regularly in the youth teams, difference being, at that level it worked almost every time
