Not really an anti for me, just that I've never thought he was a Prem striker, nor is he worth £6m imho

The situation governs the valuation of a player.

Cardiff were very close to promotion and gaining over 100 million,
The very experienced Warnock knew that injuries could ruin their chances, so he wanted a spare striker to act as insurance.
Cardiff played s physical direct style, so it made sense for them to buy a player with a similiar style who could slot it.
It’s difficult to buy decent players in January because not many teams want to sell.
Bolton knew they might get relegated if they sold their best player so they were never going to sell Madine unless they received a crazy offer. Cardiff took the informed gamble that with over 100 million in sight, that making a crazy 6 million bid didn’t seem so crazy.
In the end they didn’t suffer injuries, so didn’t need to use their insurance policy of Madine.

Regards us I’ve no idea what the plan is for next season, so would trust Wilder to make the correct decision regards Madine.

I would keep him. Putting aside his past , I think he is a much better player than people give him credit for. He puts himself about , has a good touch , & is clever with his positional play bringing others in , & Also he has obviously fitted in well with the group which is important. Clearly Wilder likes him & that is good enough for me.

IF he gets himself ship shape, then I think he has much to offer as an impact sub.

The sad truth is that, as unpopular as this might be, he has been mostly slow to react, hasn’t really had the physical dominance and impact we might have expected and on top of which lacked a level of discipline (linked to the slow to react bit) that tells me the current Gary Madine MIGHT not be what it once was.

It's no from me. If we go up he's not the player we'd need. If we stay down he's an expensive plan b, although he has proved effective in some games he's played so far.

If he's no sort of problem, I'd like us to keep him if we don't go up as he's a very valuable option.

Sharp, McGoldrick, Madine and one other striker of a good quality would give us a great chance of challenging again.

You maybe Crabby but not everyone is quite as even handed.

Going back to the point I’d prefer to know what division we’re in before we have these debates as the answer may well be different depending on that

We could buy him from Cardiff for £6m.

Then say his contract 'wasn't legally binding'.
