Madine or Mcburnie

Let's get this right how much space did mcburnie make for other players when he came on... That's better than him scoring or having any direct influence on the games whatsoever, we should be awarded a win by default
 
In monetary terms. It shouldn't even be a question. However the question stands due to how rubbish McBurnie has been.

McB is as imaginary as D-TAXIS - someone needs to order a proper one in the JTW though.

McBurnie for me was summed up with his first touch of the game - he raced from the left to the middle to win a flick on, which he sent out to the left, where he'd just been. Who did he think he was flicking it to? He knew there was no-one there, cos he was just there and he'd moved from there to win the header! Unless he thinks Billy Sharp has the power of teleportation I'm not sure what he was doing.
 
A lot of comments about Madine being a bellend and a thug- understandable with his past. BUT; I haven’t read or heard about him having any issues off the pitch in years•*

No excusing the things he did previously, and that will mean he’ll always have his haters- fair do’s, thats personal opinion. But it does seem he has sorted himself out and grown up as he’s got a older. Thought he spoke really well in interviews when he was here, seemed genuinely humble and glad to be here. And he showed us - the fans and the club- nothing but respect today, during and after the game.

And for parity, I think McBurnies a decent kid as well, just a bit of a giddy young lad who’s made some questionable choices and stupid mistakes- but didn’t we all at his age? He’ll be one of them lads that meets the right lass who’ll sort him out and he’ll be good as gold from then on.

As for who’s the better player? Madines a better target man- he’s excellent at it at this level. But Oli’s not a target man. I do think we’re missing a trick not involving him more- just not as the header-winning, battling target man he seems to be getting lumped in as.

The real question is not McBurnie or Madine. But who would add more to the squad this season; Madine or Brewster…


*I guess this is where somebody posts a newspaper article about how he headbutted a donkey on Blackpool beach last month, or walloped a Nun during lockdown.

He does this all the time, it will go down as another aerial duel won which people on here will quote to prove how amazing he is, yet it was sod all benefit for the team

I'd have Madine back now, he is the perfect player to "chuck on" when chasing a game or even to occupy defenders and create space for more creative types. You can play nice football with him up top. As you say McBurnie although good in the air isn't a target man but he is a near as we have at the minute. Unless we take the lead in a game we are always going to struggle and a plan B or just someone to get you high up th pitch would be great.

Championship defenders although typically slower than their Premier league counterparts are on average taller bigger players hence why McBurnie looks less effective in the air and why Egan funnily enough looks less aerially domiantnat than he did in the Premier League. Besides Burnley I dont think there are many Premier league teams who set up with two 6ft3+ centre backs?

No twat behaviour in the game either.
He took a strong tackle in our box and went down under it, not faking, no whinging. Ball went out, he picked the ball up and knocked it to Olsen.
 



What kind of reception did Madine get yesterday, we couldn’t make it to the game?

He massively won me over when he joined, to say I was against the move was an understatement.

You’re the only one who keeps going on about aerial duels. I’ve said that he isn’t that sort of player and shouldn’t be played that way.
 
When Madine scores 24 goals in Championship this can be a discussion.

One thing is VERY clear. The player that all the apologists insist is in there somewhere based on events of 4 years ago simply doesn’t exist anymore based on what is clearly evidenced in a Blades shirt.

The moment Slav brings in a striker of his own to the club will signify the end of his Blades career. Brewster too.

Horrendous signings given the outlay on wages and fees.

McBurnie was terrible yesterday in the 15mins he was on the pitch, you would be thinking he would be busting a gut to impress and get a start but no he just jogged about pointing now and then and headed one ball to nowhere. Coming over and clapping the crowd at the end will fool no one, 50% effort from him yesterday, just another wage thief going through the motions.

OK, let's just talk about Madine on the football pitch, he's a presence on or off the ball, and I bet every single opposition player knows that too.
Would love to have him "miked" up,. bet he's got plenty to say, especially to opposition defenders.
Personally I'd love him in our squad especially at this point of the season, it's Madine for me, but then again you probably either love him or hate him
