The referee for Sunday has f all to do with whether he should be played or not.
But we all know HE WILL PLAY,but to counter that if Mr Bankes has one eye on Johnny doing his flying tackles and we know how good Arsenal players have diving and feigning injury off to a T,then it might be wise of Higgy to leave Johnny out all together, because of Mr Bankes.

Good point well made. I just don't want to see him in a Blades shirt again, or at least until he shows a high enough level of respect to deserve to wear one.

Mr Banks might be a Blade then if he’s trying to get Lundstram off the field...

Playing with him is like having 10 men, so if he plays and gets sent of; it matters naught, however, the next games he will miss so we can finally play with 11 ?

What is this obsession with Lundstram bashing jeysusss Christ yes he’s been poor the last few weeks but he’s been one of our better players this season (still shiiittte)

Yes he’s out of contract and shouldn’t be playing , he wouldn’t if berge was fit

But he hasn’t downed tools not at all people need to grow up

He does a good impression of someone downing their tools. Zero effort and zero fucks given when he’s made stupid mistakes recently. He wouldn’t get away with it with fans in the ground.

I suppose it’s relative to where the line is drawn on “one of our better players”. I’d argue he’s not in the top 8. And even then it’s like arguing if the middle of dog turd tastes better than the outside. Being a contract rebel, in a season this bad was always going to magnetise fury. Couple that with his severe dose of ‘cantbearseditis’ and you’re adding multipliers

Define contract rebel ? At least he honours his contract unlike our last manager ? What would happen if a player decided to tear up his contract 1 year in ?

If lundstram had 3 years left on his contract not one single blade would be accusing him of downing tools

If Norwood/Stevens/Fleck anyone had 3 months left they’d be accused of the same IMO

C’mon now. You know exactly what I’m referring to. You’re moving the goalposts to suit your argument. A player not playing very well, turning the power down on effort and refusing to sign a new contract is unsurprisingly going to cop for a little more than everyone else. Now combine that with this mushroom sprouting, cow shit of a season and everything gets amplified.

No they wouldn't, because all 3 of them have had a couple of excellent seasons, with Fleck having 4. Fleck has played on with a major back injury, which is obviously why his form has dipped. Lundstram had a purple patch of 6 ish games a season ago, other than that, he's been utter dog shit.

He thought that a few good games meant that he should be paid, as well, as those who had a few good seasons. Got told no and then got a strop on.

We're down and in 8 games he won't be here. Absolutely pointless playing him.

Hard to tell whether he's horrifically lazy or a spatial genius

Yep, the effort he has put in to games this season is absolutely clear to see.....

Hes not given a toss most of this season and has been going through the motions. He also been laughably bad. Heckinbottom, Wilder or anyone else can come out and tell the fans that he really really does care and he is a super duper caring lad who does a lot for charity if they like, but I can tell a lazy arsed player when I see one with my own eyes and I don't need others to tell me what is blatantly fucking obvious.

He's downed tools and done the same as Michael Brown and Paul Devlin did years ago who did similar in the last year of their contract / trying to engineer a move away.

I couldn't give a toss about him turning a contract down with us, in fact I'd go as far as saying most are pleased he hasn't signed a contract with us as he's not good enough and very negative on the pitch. I'd rip the contract up if if was my decision. That's his decision and he's perfectly entitled to not sign anything. Good for him. What he's not entitled to do though is Swan about the pitch looking disinterested match after match. Lord knows what some others see as he has contributed the square root of fuck all to the team this season in fact he's cost us with some awful mistakes.

If you still think he's bothered I'd suggest you have a watch again of the Leeds game. He watched others race past him as he gently jogged back after he had given the ball away. The fact that he is still in the team tells you all you need to know about how bad we have been this season and why we are going down so limply. He should have been gone last August.

People who share my views on Lundstram will 'grow up' provided others who defend him constantly despite being shit game after game, 'wake up' to the fact he shouldn't be in the side full stop.

The other alternative is that he’s really shit at football, the same could be applied to the other 3 you mention.

he hasn’t downed tools because you could argue he has no tools to put down

Oh good another poll.

Would you rather see John Lundstram in the first XI or watch your own birth?

Rather than should or shouldn't Lundstram be selected, a more pertinent discussion would be - who are the possible alternatives at RCM? Personally I don't think Brunt is ready which leaves Basham or Ampadu, both of whom aren't particularly suited to the role and neither have impressed whenever they've played there. That leaves the option of playing someone out of position (I keep seeing the suggestion of playing Bogle there which I just find laughable for lots of reasons) or Lundstram remains in the side.

The root cause of the issue is again last summer's recruitment - if CW felt he could get through the season with only 4 natural midfielders, supported by utility men and players out of position, he was obviously losing the plot much earlier than anyone was aware.
