When he signs a new contact he can have one. From his interview yesterday , I got the impression signing a new deal wasn’t close. After wilder has stuck by him these last few years , it would be a kick in the teeth if he didn’t .

He's definitely got a lot of strong qualities & I think he could grow & improve with us. Of course, I don't know exactly what goes off behind the scenes - but players have usually signed their contracts when offered them quite quickly. I imagine Wilder is pretty fair with his assessments & the club back his judgement.

It seems odd that Lundstram's view of his own value can be so disproportionate to Wilder's, which is what - presumably - is making it so hard to strike this deal... my assumption is that another club has made an approach and this has jacked the price up in the Agent's mind.

However, he's rightly not been starting recently & in truth, has only really been a really good player for us in about a dozen games (he's been here a few seasons now).

If he still hasn't signed by the end of the season then I would move him on. I'd be concerned by what effect this may have on Jack O'Connell, but I don't think Lundstram is irreplaceable by a long chalk.

It would be a shame if it were to end like this though.
