Preston a dark horse for promotion this year?

Done some decent business this window and have quietly assembled a decent squad. I’ve always liked Ben Pearson

Pearson is a great player for someone who plays with two broken legs

Pacey skilful and athletic.
We don't acknowledge these three traits.
We like slow, lost and pathetic, personified by our man of the moment Mr Lundstrum only bettered by our legend of all time Sir Dean Hammond of Crapshire (GOAT).

Pearson's absolutely outstanding and is pretty much the complete holding midfielder at Championship level. He will only be here for one more season, unless we go up, and then he'll be off to the Prem. Believe Stoke were willing to go huge to get him towards the end of the window (eight figures) but were rebuffed.

As for Nmecha, our location will have helped but think the main thing is game time. We didn't replace Hugill properly really, Maguire is out injured for 2 months and Moult isn't great. He will play a lot of games here whereas at the likes of Leeds, Swansea and Villa, who we've beaten to get him, he probably would've been in and out.

Main reason I came on was to say I'd been told by someone well-placed that you came in with a bid for Callum Robinson recently and we turned it down.

+ Totally unproven at this level or in grown men's football.

I'd suggest we put any transfer window concerns to one side until we reach the 1st of September.

If as has been suggested Evans/Lundstram are to be replaced by Norwood, Stevens by Marvin Johnson and Assombalonga is coming in, then I'd be relatively happy with the window we've had.

I can understand the uncertainty, but let's wait until we judge.

What’s Robinson like? Would you be desperate to keep him?

Good technical player with an eye for goal, good off both feet, and has a bit of skill. Has been with us quite a long time now. Currently plays on the left of a 4-3-3 for us but occasionally played the false 9 role well when Hugill left. Under Grayson he was good playing off a big man up top next to Hugill in a 4-4-2.

On a long-term contract so don't need or want to sell.

....but we can't possibly compete with Preston. And remember, there's noone better out there.
In all fairness you’d have to say Preston and Sheffield United are similar in terms of current prospects ( not club size). In fact slightly higher at PNE given our recent finishes compared to theirs. Players aren’t really bothered about playing for the ‘bigger club’ anymore.
