Apparently played every minute of every premiership game this season.

Are there any others that share that with him?

(I don't know the answer)

Someone told me just the other day. I remember there was 2 others, Gerrard being one of them. Forgotten the other though! (The stat only applies to outfield players, ofcourse)

Leighton Baines?

He'll never cut it in the Premiership!!

*The views of some Blades on his transfer.

No wonder were fucked.

To be fair, I don't think anyone wanted us to sell him - and at the risk of sounding daft given the title of the thread, I'm still not sure he wont play most of his career outside the premiership. But good luck to the lad either way, we miss him.

Have you seen any of Villa's defending this season? He's made a fair few mistakes. (though to be fair, the same could be said about any of villas back line)

I don't think Kyle W's missed many minutes for Spurs this season.

Dropped today - Kyle N at last given a much overdue chance ahead of him on the right. He's deserved it - Kyle W has been much poorer this year, even before his errors at Liverpool last week. Looks like he could benefit from a spell on the sidelines tbh.

Thing is though. If they manage to stay up they have good foundations for the future

Yes i have & yes Villa are in danger of going down.
However hes been an ever present in a Premiership team. No matter how poor the team is.

Many of the Villa fans phoning in to TS the other week when Adrian Durham repeatedly said 'if you sign a kid from league one for your defence you're going down'. His 40yd pin point cross for Agbonlahor's goal this weekend was sheer class. he gives so much more going forward, that his occasional youthful defensive lapse is much outweighed I'd say.

He was also very close to scoring himself with a typical run from right back.

Indeed it was (although it was a bit 'lofted' and fell within the six yard box) and blame must go to Cesar for not dealing with it. Never mind. We're reminded almost weekly of our disastrous short-termism re. transfers, and will undoubtedly be having the same in a year about Long and Maguire...

I thought it was pin point, when he first hit it it looked high and a bit hit and hope but the replays showed how accurate it was, crap header from the Pighelper though, lucky to go in ;-)

Lowton has adapted brilliantly to the step up in class. Young lad in a young team. Dunne I think was going to be their leader and got injured early season. He always appears to be contributing when they go forwards and while he does make the odd gaffe, when you are near the bottom you are under more pressure, more often so it makes sense he will drop the odd one.

Walker has been poor this season by his standards. Still one of the best right backs in the country. Probably worth over £10m on his own now, which puts our sale of both of them for less than £8m in perspective really doesn't it.

Without wishing to open a massive can of worms, wasn't a lot of the fee supposed to be based on money for appearances?

Yeah and I was one of them in fact that there were very few on this site saying that we have a Premiership right back on our books when looking at Lowton. He has done really well and I hope that Villa avoid the drop. Whenever I have seen them they have played some excellent football and Lowton has been a part of that. I hear or read very little criticism of his performances so good luck to him and I am glad that I got proved wrong.

Lowton has improved dramatically in the short time at Villa. His attacking ability was never in doubt, but his defensive game is much better than it was here.

He's got ripped apart a few times when I've seen but not as much as I expected. Fair play to him, he's clearly worked hard and listened to what's been told to him and applied it to his game. I'm still not convinced that he can make it as a Premiership player long term but he's certainly done well this season (even if it's in the 2nd worst defence in the division).

He'll improve further should Villa get some experience at centre back. At his age he'll either consolidate his career as a Premiership player next season, or fade back into the Championship. Hope it's the former as he's a great footballer to watch.

If Villa stay up I expect he's in line for a nice new contract too. A proper set-for-life jobby.

Dream Blades Defence

Lowton
Jagielka
Walker (slightly out of position)
Naughton

:-(

And they all started at Right Back! Or at least Jagielka played there early on.

You not going to chuck Cahill in there for good measure?

Well, he was only on loan and all those four were from the "waste of money" academy (or its predecessor).

How much would you pay for those 4 now - £25m?
