With regards the Udders fans being out of the ground, I was amazed at how many were in the tube station at the same time as us. I was even right behind one on the Stocksbridge Bypass at 9.20! Theres no way I would have been back in Stocksbridge at 9.20 had we won!

I reckon any Huddesfield fan unfortunate enough to have been abused will realise that their abusers are not representative of all Blades supporters, after all I'm pretty sure they have thick twats in West Yorkshire too.

I'll agree with that.

a sort of minority report , could make a film about it

I dont get the need to lash out at opposition fans , they are only like us , just live in a different area supporting their own teams
Good luck to Huddersfield , we need to do what theyve done , get over it and do it the year after

Why don't you write to the local paper apologsing on behalf of us Blades? True it's hard to take but there is no need for that behaviour. Explain that as you have read on here the vast majority of Unitedites enjoyed good banter with Town fans and there was no gloating afterwards and that behaviour such as you witnessed is neither acceptable or justified. It may be that the people weren't local but it is about the best one can do.

Give over. As I said earlier it's 4 or 5 idiots out of 29,000 Blades. No need to apologise. Seen for worse from fans of many clubs.

Most fans from both teams went to have a good day out and support their team, join in some banter and then go home safely. This was achieved by 99.9% of supporters. So well done to the majority. No supporter will condone the loutish behaviour, it sickens us all. I cant see how we can get rid of it though.

Spoke with several Town fans on train back home and overheard many more. General consensus was how well we'd taken defeat and they doubted our neighbours would have been so grown-up about it. We may have in our midst a number of people for whom the only reaction to defeat is to lash out at randoms in different colours, but by and large I don't think we have much to be ashamed of.

All the aggro i saw was pre- game didn't see anything after at all.

Im quite surprised by all the comments about abusive behaviour Im reading, I didnt witness any of it all day, although maybe I was so drunk it just passed me by without noticing it. Had a right good sing song with the Hudds fans on the later tube on the way home and on leaving Kings cross several old blokes came up to us and insisted on shaking our hands saying they'de never seen a set of fans take a loss so well, said we'd made the day really enjoyable for them and wished us luck.

That's reassuring to know, hopefully it was a complete one off incident. I witnessed no other trouble.

Very similar to what we experienced, didn't come across a single Hudders fan that wasn't gracious in defeat, all wished us well for next year and said they doubt it would have been the same if the game had been against Wednesday.

I concur it might be bit late to add my ten-penneth, but thanks Bobby for posting this.

Just to share our own experience here: being from Bradders we probably come across more Udders than many on here - I've generally found them ok, not the best and some knuckle-draggers but not like, for a darn fine example, Leeds

Anyway, we came down on the Grand Central sevice direct from Bradford, and a few Udders got on there one in particular who was happy to acknowledge us (we were in the new shirt BTW). In fact I reckon they were pretty amazed to see Blades up here. Next, we hit Halifax & Brighouse and tonnes more got on, with a few sitting right in front of us and we were now well and truly surrounded. Honestly, we were like spots on a domino :p

But they were great, had a right fair banter with 'em, turned out even that the 'Fax ones didn't live that far from us. But there were a few young lads that had to stand (yep the train was PACKED by now) in the carriage doors ways/vestibules. They were drinking plenty (and this is at 7.30 am-ish ) and when a few Blades got on at Wakefield they started piping up with the gobs - even the Udders right near us commented (critically) on it. Anyway, we hit Donny and of course, plenty more Blades, and no longer spots on the domino thankfully, and realising there were now more Blades to contend with, no more gobs. Getting into KX, most of the Udders shook our hands, wished us a great day and of course likewise, we got on our way.

We bumped into a few Udders fans here and there who were subtly gobby, but nowt I ain't heard before from the infantile element of footie fans.

But what pissed me off was an incident after hitting Wembley. We picked up our duplicate tickets (our originals never did arrive), and we took a walk down to the Crystal bar (East side of the Stadium). We had some cans so tucked in and started enjoying the fairly decent atmosphere. All in all, was generally good-natured banter, but I did speak to a few Blades, one mentioning that they got some 'malicious' grief from a number of Udders earlier in the day. Anyway, upon taking off up to the Stadium to get our seats, me and my lad mingled with a group of young-ish Udders lot, which I'd say consisted of mum, sisters, sons, mates etc., much younger than me, and I heard one of 'em say "have you wiped the spit off". Upon enquiry, it transpired that walking through a crowd of Blades - dunno who - they been accosted and profusely spat upon. The kid in particular couldn't have been any more than a late teenager who'd got the worst of it. Needless to say, I was truly disgusted and apologised to them for such behaviour - I think they were pleasantly surprised that we did so and we parted with a good few smiles and best wishes.

Later on our way back to the hotel, we bumped in a few young Leyton Orient fans, and we had great banter with them - they'd wanted us to win as well. On the Sunday, we met a few more Udders on the way back, and approaching 'em we had a brief but amicable chat, even them admitting that it was nowt but goalies penalties that separated us.

All in all, it was good if not great between the fans, but as my and Bobby's experience prove, there are a few who bring down the grey - even black - clouds upon what was otherwise, for me at least, a good natured atmosphere which was nice to experience. I honestly believe such will never change - human nature as it is, you will always inevitably get the knuckle draggers, no matter which team we support. Some just get more than their fair share but I do take some consolation in knowing that my beloved SUFC aren't one of them.

Well, naff it - bring on 2012-13 and BDTBL again!

What a bunch of wankers. There were quite a few of them in the Green Man yesterday, which is why we left. My granddaughter was worried, as was my missus. Ugly face of the beautiful game. All the Hudds fans we saw were upbeat and non-gloaty. As I'd expect us to be. Fancy picking on families like that. There are sections of supporters who want that, and they should fuck off to some deserted car park and get it over with (we've all seen it done in the past). It does nothing for the club and never will, and I loathe that mentality. If you can take loss with disappointment and dignity, you are a true supporter. It isn't their fault we were not good enough.

pommpey
well said pompey, real hard men this shower of shite sound, its bad enough losing but to take it out of young kids or a family out for the day is really scummy
