Looks like we are heading back to the Championship.. so i'm interested whether we turn back to our previous model of fishing in the lower leagues for talent, or go for a new transfer policy...

But let's say we go back to our old model... are there any players you've been keeping tabs on lower champ/L1/L2 you think we should go after?

One standout who looks like he is in the POTY talk for L1 so far, is 26yo Jorge Grant at Lincoln City who plays CM, 8 goals 5 assists

There is also 20yo Mark McGuiness loaned to Ipswich from Arsenal and has done very well there, i'm sure he will be looking for a Championship team next season on loan or perm, right footed irish defender in a similar mould to Bash/JOC

Bit of a rumour we're in for Dion Sanderson, not heard of him. On loan at Sunderland from Wolves.

Talented lad but I really don't understand why we're looking at him on loan if it's for the RCB position. That would mean in two years time we'll have no one who can play at Champ or PL level in that role. Not good planning imo. If Wolves are willing to sell, which there is no indication they are, then potentially perfect.

Picking up talented players from League one, who were also of the right character was the blueprint upon which our success was built.

It was only in recent times when we got a bit Billy Big Bollocks and abandoned that policy, that it all went tits up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’d imagine he might be available on a permanent this summer. I think wolves will reinforce at centreback this summer plus they’ve got max killman getting appearances this year and he’s fairly young at 23 and they signed ki jana hoever this summer from Liverpool who’s a young rightback. I think Sanderson might find himself a way down the depth chart this summer and probably wants first team football at 21.

who's betting that Villa, Brentford (if they go up) or Fulham (if they stay up) will take a punt though? Seems like any player who has a sniff of potential about them gets snapped up by epl teams these days...

Potentially I think Brentford or Fulham more than villa as villa are pretty stocked at centreback right now. Annoyingly he probably fits Brentford’s model for centrebacks aswell as ours.

Hi, Stegosauris here

Word on the street is, Wilder has been scouting Jordan Rhodes

We need to be linked with about 400 players and then, when Villa have bought 360 of them, we can pick from what's left.

Tell you what, if Chris does jack it in there's always a job for him as Villa's Chief Scout, he keeps unearthing diamonds for them.

Not for holidays, although that would be a good idea, but for recruitment.

We have proven already we cannot compete and sign first team players from Forrest / Wigan etc. Not sure where the market is now.

Target championship players not lower leagues its a fundemrntal problem from the top

I heard we want to sell 5 players if that's true the Prince can do one

Now imagine you are a young player like Dion Sanderson, the wolves player on loan at Sunderland You have been on loan a couple of times and while you hope to break through at Wolves you see players in your position being signed for big fees and on good wages You have a choice stick or twist Stick means good money, a slight chance of a break through but more likely another loan, then another etc etc Think Jamal Blackman now 28 Earned a lot of money but never done much in terms of playing football at the highest level. Twist means back your self earn less money but be contracted to a club who has the intention to play you for their benefit which ultimately is to your benefit if you hack it. What our recruitment policy has to do is identify those who want to prove themselves, that want to back themselves and want to play week in week out Ability to me is slightly less important than desire and I think that is Wilders approach.
