Stay right there Pinchy, where you choose to be.

I look for local lads/ Academy lads playing for us for years to come. Not just the stars destined for the Prem, but solid backbone players because we have failed to accumulate them for years. Not all players are stars but no team on earth has a team full of stars.

Okay mate. Plain and simple. Reed is nowhere near as good as you like to think. That's why he's not even close to our first team. United are on the up. That means leaving behind kids like him and Long.

If you want to fulfil your dream of seeing Little Louis play regular first team football, I'm afraid it will be somewhere other than the Lane. You can't force it or wish it, Woody.

Pinchy, very quick response. I 'edited' Pochettino's policy at Spurs, that's what I want to see in every club. Not just 28 yearolds and older playing. It's planning for the future of the club.

I can't see Reed really making it now sadly, if you have a school boys physique you better be a really really good ball player, and Reed just isn't I am afraid.

With a team full of players of Louis Reed's quality the future would be bleak. He's too small, too weak, too slow. He doesn't score; he doesn't create; he doesn't carry the ball; he can't go past an opponent. He has, of course, a great range of passing. On his most recent appearances (ignominiously subbed at half-time twice, remember) he misplaced them long, short and everything in between.

You might be prepared to sacrifice points and relegation on the altar of youth. I'm singing different hymns. Quality Counts, and it knows no age.

Pinchy, the man that speaks so much but says so little.

A mediocre and hackneyed quip. Odd that it appeared in a response to a post where I said a great deal, so poorly-targeted as well.

My advice is to wait for the opportune moment.
You talked bollocks about a player you probably didn't see play last season. You just go on and on spouting your pretentious, condescending shit as if it is fact and you are never wrong.
We all, however, saw your comments on the John Fleck signing!!!

"With a team full of Louis Reeds". Don't talk daft man. Team game sir.

Touch- tick
Passing ability-tick
Vision- tick

All good so far, but....
Pace- nope
Strength/presence- nope
Shooting ability-nope
Skills/tricks-nope.

He's just not got the physical side to his game that is critical these days. It would be fine if he struck a great dead ball, or could shoot from distance but there's just too much missing from his game in my opinion.
He might improve those areas, but it will take a few years if someone is prepared to be patient enough.

Just because he's not played for our first team for a while doesn't mean he's regressed.

By all accounts he was the U23s best player last season and from what I've seen seems to have toughened up a great deal. He's much stronger than he was, tackles well and is always committed. He also has a decent shot but struggles to get into positions to use it.

His best chance is without doubt to continue working on his strength and the defensive side of his game, then with the technical ability he already has he'll have the ingredients to be a good deep lying midfielder in a team with 3 central midfielders.

Let's see how he does at Chesterfield, if he goes. Big season for him.

Is that Coutts you're describing?:) He's a bit short on the 'vision' actually.

How long is it since you've seen Reed play? He's quite sturdy now and has a tackle in him, he's much stronger, a bit bigger and he's 20 later this month!!

Reed has had 3 seasons with England in amongst a strong batch of players. Obviously he couldnt maintain that without first team football. It was a big achievement for a L1 yougster. Quality player victim of circumstances at Bramall Lane. Player of the Season if he goes to Chesterfield.
The reason Man Utd let Reed go was due to his size ( Same applied with Brooke's at Man City ) both players were very small so as often happens tossed on the scrap heap.Although there is truth in the big in beats a small in "" there are small players that come through anyway, more patience is required but skill gets them through.Reed could become a real good holding player and Brooks has the talent to go all the way. They both needed time to mature which the big hitters don't seem willing to give ,we have a different approach which looks like it will pay off in Reed& Brooks case.

He's a bit similar to Connor Dimaio in terms of attributes, so wonder how they plan to set up their midfield.

Read again Woody...

I know. Iplayed on your words a bit Pinchy, not too much though, your intent was there.

Looking at the club website today at the Boxing, Reed looks a fair bit bigger than three other midfielders. Whoops, he's still 19 years old and still growing. Written off by Pinchey at 19, maybe even a year or two earlier. shame.

When was Reed at man united?

Just for the record Louis at U9 had the choice of Man Utd, Leeds Utd, Barnsley and Sheffield United. Having joined Man Utd he was released at U11, joining Sheffield United Academy at U12. Ben Whiteman was released at U16 along with Otis Khan.
Good to put the record straight so your lad was released by Man Utd earlier than Whiteman & Khan .local press at the time kind of gave the impression that they came together.Another instance of the media getting there facts wrong, best of luck to Luis on his loan move wherever it maybe, should come back a more mature and experienced player.

On the subject of Khan, seems he had a decent season – played 38 games, voted young player of the year at Yeovil, and given a new two year deal. All nice to see http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/40093649

Just goes to show what can happen when young lads get games and he could easily climb the leagues. Wilder has admitted to being a fan of Reed and he needs to be playing games to eventually benefits. I think he will go to someone like chesterfield when pre season is finished.

Completely agree. It'll be really interesting to see how he gets on at that level – I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up having a very good season. Still very young, now needs some games to develop further.

Ben Whiteman is 21 and we are just starting to see him come through, and not even for us yet.

And that's my point, are we going to be patient and wait for the lad? Or are we going to let him go eventually while we look at other kids coming up through the academy.
You can't keep them all as the budgets only stretch so far, and the best way to improve is to play men's football. He will learn to deal with his lack of physical attributes and adapt as he plays games but that won't be for us at the moment.

So he needs to go out on loan somewhere, but his problem is that the lower you go, the more important physicality is. He needs to find a side that plays football and keeps the ball.
I have nothing against the lad he's a lovely footballer. But it's a cutthroat business unfortunately.

Reed against Fenerbaçhe was different class in the second half at 16yrs old.... we all got a bit over excited when he broke through at that time, a bit like Januzaj at Man Utd (when it wasn't going so good for them), and pinned a lot on him. All's not lost in my opinion and a bit of first team football can only help.

Whether he's good enough or not? A curious way indeed to run a professional football team. Still, if it helps our Louis, I suppose that's the most important thing.
