Anybody heard that?

My cousin in Chesterfield has told me but I've not read it anywhere official. He's ITK down there and says Reed is very highly regarded by their manager and coaching staff. He seems to be an ever-present in this turbulent season and apparently he plays deep midfield and most moves build-up through him. Says United watch him regularly as do various other scouts.

By the end of this season Reed will be a battle-hardened 21 year old with (hopefully) a successful full season relegation fight on his C.V. By then he will have played over 80 first team games in his career all being well.

Great news as far as I'm concerned. Good player.

Very little risk attached to it either. He won’t be a high earner so it can only serve to protect our investment. If a team wants to sign him permanently next summer then fair enough, but they are going to have to pay for him.

Louis will be a victim of uniteds progress. Like whiteman, lavery, lafferty etc. Shame for the kid good player but the team is a level ahead, if he catches up great, but the current midfield is streets ahead

I doubt he'll ever make it at this level, but im still pleased with the renewal.

As other have said, it's low risk and could potentially bring in a transfer fee.

What happened to louis reed because i remember the fenerbache pre season & following games afterwards. He was hailed like david brooks is now. Being called the future of team but will be sold to the 1st premier league offers but since clough left he dropped off the map without a trace & now on loan fighting to stay in the football league

Too many games too soon ruined him. Happens to a lot of young players.

You really can bleed em in too young some players aren’t ready for it. We’re seeing with Brooks how the wait and let them develop method is the best bet. Probably would’ve been better with Reed too.

But this loan move will either make or break him. And from what I’ve heard he’s doing pretty wel in a poor side.

With Reed being under 24, this offer covers us for compensation when he inevitably moves on. He won’t play first team football if he comes back.

George Long is 24, so I think he’s probably running down his contract to become a free agent. I doubt he’ll return.

He may be someone who turns into a good player eventually but he's always been very hit and miss, more miss than hit, for us. I don't think he's Championship material or higher, and that's where we need to set our sights. I suspect United have done this knowing that they'll get more money for him when they sell him, which I'm pretty sure they will.

This should serve as a warning to brooks and the club that nothing can be taken for granted I'm still hopeful for louis that it all comes good. In a recent interview Louis was saying he and Brooksy were the same age so let's not write him off just yet

This could be the deal the transforms his career...I hate it when clubs kill their sons...

Great stuff next season we can loan him to a league one club, let's face it he is not likely to ever be good enough for our present team. Over to Pinchy

Nothing to see move along.
Contract extended so we get money when he is sold in summer.
Nowhere near good enough for us.8 or 9 players ahead of him now..
Never scored in 39 games. Glad he is shining at the bottom of L2.
Hope Chesterfield can stay up so we can ship him out to them.
Seems like the lad knows he is on his way by the last minute of this interview. 3.30

I disagree with almost all of that but the lad scored direct from a free kick about a fortnight ago.

Why is it important that 9 players are ahead of him right now? Maybe we could play the long game

Clue ONE year contract.

We’re not a charity. Semple is very highly rated but has only a year left on his contract. Because he’s been injured for a year I doubt he gets more than a year. What’s wrong with making players battle for their future.

On 4 July 2012, Fleck joined Football League One side Coventry City after he rejected his Rangers contract being transferred to the new company.[21] Rangers were reported to have a sell-on agreement, meaning they would be entitled to a percentage of any transfer fee Coventry subsequently received for the player.[22] Fleck scored his first Coventry Citygoal in a 4–1 loss away to Shrewsbury Townfrom the penalty spot on 18 September 2012.[23] He struggled to nail down a starting spot in the side during his first season at the club, particularly during the reign of Mark Robins, although he went on to make 35 appearances and scored three times.[24]

Fleck at 21, after failing to make an impact in the championship with Blackpool.

2 goals in his league career.

How many had Coutts scored by the time he was 20 years old? How many has he scored period? Does it make him a poor player? They play the same role.

Blades should show unity and patience with the club's young lads.

Not animosity and poor arguments.

Because if a player is actually any good and a chance at getting in the first team there's probably 20-30 teams that would take them as a player and double/triple their money. Any youth player really looking to do it 9/10 will have a long extensive deal as the club protect them

Coutts didn't turn pro until he was 20 and joined Peterborough. Despite playing 53 league games for them he never scored.

Same as George Long for me, good if it works out, low risk and low cost if it doesn’t. Very congested in midfield now but Wilder might have a longer term view on things.

Next?

Doom and gloom?

Back a Blade, don't disown him.

United all the way.

I'd love to turn the clock forward two years.
