hi all..
had a phone call around 7pm purportedly from sheffield united (although it was a huddersfield number which rang alarm bells).. did i want to join the half time lottery quid a time.. i thought what the heck so i agreed to join.. the woman then asked me for my bank details which i declined to provide
is this legit.. anyone else had it?? seems weird that a proper outfit might ask for bank details over the phone.. not very professional

I think you answered your own question there.

I had same call yesterday from a man, unfortunately I did give my details then when put number on
Internet came up as possible scam from Plymouth argyle fan's, but further into forum a member of staff confirmed it was legitimate. Called lane today as was worried and they confirmed the call Centre in huddersfield are doing
Some work for them, they are calling season ticket holders and all is legit (thank god).that will teach me not to be so daft in future

thanks for clearing that up.. you should never give your details to anyone.. not even the mighty blades

Cold calling from the club now? I know what my response will be if I get one of these unsolicited calls.

I've had calls from "Npower on behalf of Sheffield United" before.

Unfortunately for the chap that called, I'd got a complaint logged with NPower at that particular time after a door-to-door sales man wouldn't take no for an answer.

We were about to go on a hospital visit so changing gas and electricity supplier wasn't high on our agenda at that point and politely told him so before he carried on and on. So resorting to rudeness, we tried to shut the door on him only for him to put his foot in the way and attempt to get into our kitchen. They were informed in no uncertain terms that their implied right to access to our property had been revoked and that should they call again, we would be taking them down the harassment route. I did feel slightly sorry for the call-centre monkey by the time I'd finished.

I will mention it because I hate being mithered.

If you don't want to be bothered, I suggest popping an email/letter through to the marketing department of United requesting that your details are removed from the marketing database and not handed to third parties, irrespective of whatever bollocks the league try and force you to sign up to by purchasing tickets.

haha, Ive done the same when NPower cold called me and some woman from them stopped me in the street. I had a major dispute with them when I was at Uni and then just snapped at both these people. The woman in the street ended up running away and hiding in her little NPower tent. I absolutely despise NPower and will do it again if they call me

I had a call the other day from TalkTalk asking if i'd like to try their interweb. When I said no the woman asked why, so I explained to her that when my mother died it took me several months of phone calls, emails and letters to cancel her broadband service and I'd rather be disemboweled with a rusty spoon than use their service. She still tried to persuade me, so I asked her which bit of "no" she didn't understand. She hung up, so she must have finally understood it.

Why bother wasting your time discussing it? Anyone who cold calls me trying to sell me something gets the same response which happens the second I realise it is a cold call:

"Sorry, not interested, bye". Hang up.

I like an argument.:D

And telling them that you're not interested and precisely why tends to stop them ringing again.

I also like lying to the foreign chaps that ring up. In the last few months I've been a policeman, blind, clinically insane, and awaiting trial for running amok in a call centre with a machete. They soon hang up and tend not to call back, which is the key.

Blimey, you have far too much time on your hands. I suggest you take up sado-masochism :-)

Actually, I think my technique works as well, if you won't even engage them in conversation and just put the phone down, they realise you are a lost cause.

If I have got alot of time on my hands when I get a cold call, I have been known to try to sell the cold caller my car which normally confuses the hell out of them

Does this mean all the text messages i've recieved this week telling me i won 1.5 million of your english pounds is a con once i provide them with all my details . Bollox, was going to give it all to danny to buy a striker.

Total Gaming Solutions of Huddersfield are in the process of ringing our current Season Ticket holders to offer them the chance to join the Super Draw, the calls are not a scam.

If anyone has any further questions please ring me on 0114 221 3131.

Im not really happy about my personal mobile phone number being handed to some 3rd party organisation that are acting on behalf of United. We all know that these numbers will be sold on to some other 3rd party company for some unscrupulous marketing campaign. I cant remember authorising SUFC to pass my mobile number onto anybody else
I am seriously pissed off , Iam seroulsly thinking of cancelling my Superdraw membership

I can guarantee you 100% your mobile number will not be passed on.

TGS are only ringing supporters who are not in the Super Draw, have you received a telephone call ?

I wouldn't worry despite numerous requests to the ticket office no one seems able to update my e-mail address or details making buying tickets online impossible for me, if that is anything to go by most personal details held by the club will be years out of date.

Metal, can you email me your details, [email protected], and I will make sure they are updated.
