The recent thread on goals from outside the penalty area got me thinking about the outrageously long-range goals we have scored. The two I remember are Graham Shaw from the half-way line v Portsmouth in 1960, and Deane v Liverpool lobbing the ball in from about 45 yards in 1992. Does anyone remember/know about others from similar distances?

It was against us but Sterland's on Boxing Day 1989 seemed nearer the half way line when he ran up to shoot. Beattie's against Pigs was a fair way out.

There is always Jags goal v Leeds in the cup or the one v Boro in the Prem

I need Silent's help on this , but I remember Woody smashing one with the outside of his foot from a looping ball from Salmons .

It must have been from at least 35 yards and I think it was in a cup match against York City .
