I was there too. Was it New Year's day? I remember TC seemed full of swagger that day and had a really good game.
That was in the days before fans were kept apart in the ground. I was with my dad and we made the mistake of cheering one of our goals. A bunch of Man U fans started heading towards us but luckily the old Bill stopped them.
Them wer't days!

No, Bank Holiday Monday, 23rd April 1973. (Dearden, Eddy) The crowd was (for then) a huge 55,035.

Back OT. We have never beaten Burton Albion in a competitive game. :)

We've never beaten Forest Green Rovers, a shameful record :(

I was at that game, Bobby Charlton’s last appearance at Old Trafford so we really pissed on their parade. I seem to remember TC scored a good goal. Blades won 2-1
Our scorers in Bobby Charlton's last home game at OT were Dearden and Eddy. TC and Woody were the scorers in another 2-1 win at OT 8 months later

talking of oddities
reading lost 7-5 at gillingham last night
its not that long since they lost 7-5 at home to Arsenal

must be a record to score 5 twiceand lose both

It wasn't. I've got a whole TED style monologue about it. Maybe we'll bump into one another in a pub sometime and I'll dribble it into your ear.

He wouldn’t be able to hear the monologue if you did that

This means that our results at Old Trafford after promotion in 1971 were a 0-2 defeat in 1971-72, then 2-1 wins in 1972-73 and 1973-74.
The 1971 performance by the then table-topping Blades was outstanding and we were the better team for much of the game, only succumbing late on to the famous George Best wonder goal. We remained top of the league, however.
You could say we got our revenge for that unlucky defeat when our victory in 1973-74 helped to relegate Man Utd, so the following season we were in the top tier and they were in the second.

Our win in Boxing Day 1973 was George Best's last home game for Man U
