After the sale of Michael Tonge to Stoke City on the eve of the transfer deadline, Kevin Blackwell insists that he 'has irons in the fire' as he looks to enter the loan market to bolster his midfield.

The manager says the Blades have identified two players he would like to bring to Bramall Lane and - if all goes to plan - the players in question should be in before the Derby County game a week on Saturday:

"We have got a couple of things in the fire, but I am not going to speculate or give too much away.

"I hope circumstances involving our targets won't change and if it is looking favourable that we could have the lads in before we travel to Pride Park.

"We have spoken to the two clubs and the indications are positive, so we will just have to see how things go over the next week to ten days."

I think its Brown and Mcsheffrey, would prefer the latter

Not surprised I knew he would have new players lined up.

Blacky was just arriving at the Lane at 5pm tonight - some late night deals again?!

Nah - I doubt it too!!

RS reporting this morning that he expects to have two players in before Derby... one is as close to definite as they can be and the other is a Premiership midfielder.

word is, we won't be dissapointed.

Lets just wait & see who before being mardy bums

I concur with that, fed up of the defeatest attitude. Anyone would think we were the bottom of the league without a win to our name
