I doubt there is a single Blade who would not love to have Coady and The Beard (a new Indie band?) at The Lane for as long as possible.

Fortunately Nigel shares that view and, backed by a "generous budget" (The Admirable Mr. Phipps' words) I'm certain the club will do all it can to keep both.

I think the 'slim chance' view is unnecessarily pessimistic. They both love it here and our forthcoming appearance in the FA Cup Final (Oh yes, we will!) will only reinforce that bond. I'm very optimistic.

I'm not sure those loans constituted making a difference to our season as they were just a month or so. No doubt in their ability though.

Reid was on loan to us for two months and played nine times. Made a big impact in a short time. We looked a better side with him in it.

Agree with the general sentiment though, we've had some proper bobbar on loan, under both Blackwell and Wilson

Howard, Long, Maguire, Collins, Harris, Flynn, Doyle, McGinn, Scougall, Murphy and Baxter are under contract with us next season except for Harris (who I expect to sign).

Let's not start sounding like the pigs and get too attached to loan signings, however I see no reason why Brayford and/or Coady can't be resigned for next season, whatever division we are in.

especially if they think a tilt at the title next year is doable. 1 more year, can't hurt can it.

Exactly what I thought BushBlade, when Reid was with us he was exceptional in the way he seemed to have that bit more time than other players. thus allowing him to play passes that made us a better team. Players like this have always been in short supply, they can raise everyone's game if the players around him are willing to respond.. Amongst several of Reid's qualities was the fact that he had guile, he could see a pass where others might ignore the opportunity, he also knew the value of a simple pass, never tried to overdo things, and he certainly looked head and shoulders above what we had at the time.

Reid played for us in our relegation to leauge one not our first season, but I did like him he was one of the decent players at the time.

Absolutely mate, but I suppose I fall into the 'everyone deserves a second chance' camp. After all, if Wendy can turn a blind eye to someone like the thug they've just accepted back (who's committed similar acts many times before) I would hope we'd show the generosity of spirit to say it's all behind you now, so apply yourself as the slate's now clean. He's been very lucky in one respect, his girlfriend has stuck by him so he has a rock which will prove invaluable as he begins to pick up the pieces of his life again. Whether he's Clough's cup of tea is another factor to consider. I imagine a chat between the pair of them will go a long way to determining his future at SUFC.

I think there are a lot of things that need to be clarified. There's a lot of the ITK gossip that assumes Evans is a shoe-in when he gets out of jail. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but Evans apart, the single most important figure in all of this will be Clough. I get the impression that NC is a considered person, and that if a talk is necessary he'll listen to Ched and make his judgements based on this chat as well as whatever else he feels will help him evaluate whether Ched is the player he seeks,

My own view is that as each day brings us closer to Evan's release, a head of steam is building amongst those who think it'll be business as usual when Evans gets out of prison.

I don't think Cloughie got rid of Marlon because of his past, but because of his present. If he'd have been able to make a decent contribution, a la Porter, then Clough would have retained King. The thing is, King was a spent force, and we took him on because someone thought it was worth the gamble. Whoever made that decision has questionable judgement.
