When does the window shut today?
Detail is not on the BBC site in their transfer section although all today's moves are.

Diego De Girolamo comes from Chesterfield so it's not surprising that the Spireites would be interested in him. His Uncle Cosimo used to be King of the Kop in the early seventies and he is still a big cheese these days too. He was a good player himself, actually.

I've been looking forward to seeing Diego in the red and white stripes but he's not been seen in blue this season. It was Porter and then McFadzean who went to Town on loan.

Cosimo is Diego's dad.

Plan A doesnt involve a striker. Plan B involves Porter for Wembley as the only other experienced striker is cup-tied.

It's hard to believe it's happening. Why Miller was loaned out I will never know.

Our fans have such great respect and appreciation of NC that they are not kicking off.

Personally I'm sick of attending and then trudging away from Wembley without a striker in the squad.

Theres time yet but I'm not optimistic. Even Taylor would have been an asset.

Miller is better off playing 9 games at 90 minutes than 9 games at 3/4 minutes with a view to getting match fit for next season.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::D:eek::eek:

Needs to be in the "twat" thread, I've only got 25 years left

what twat thread is this? Am I missing something? I'm still new to the forums plus a little dumb. Please explain.

You do realise the post was tongue in cheek don't you?

Yes I did and so was mine, just a bit of sarcasm from me meaning it would be a bit of a twat missing all that seeing as I've only got 25 years left to see it happen.

There is a thread on here called 'Twats, the lot of them'.

:)

I'm sure that is true to a point, though I don't see what getting fit for next season has to do with t. Maybe proving he is worth a new deal perhaps.

My point is are WE left short for Wembley? I think we are and quite unnecessarily.

Jon Stead went on loan to Bradford yesterday. Stead or Porter as first sub at Wembley? No brainer for me,; missed opportunity and we could have aimed much higher.

Even 3 x 90 minutes is better than 3 x 5 minutes?

I find it worrying that we have got no cover in. We could also potentially be facing two intense play off semi finals at the end of the season, and even a final. We could play extra time in any of these games as well as the cup game or games. Missed opportunity for me.

Taylor and Miller might be back by then - no worries ;)

I always read your views with interest and usually agree with you on most things. This one, I'm right against you. It is a no-brainer but in the other direction.

Stead has scored 85 career goals including a grand total, this season of ....... wait for it........One.

Porter is eight months younger than Stead and has played one less season in Professional Football. He has, however, got 92 goals to his credit and about 600% more than Stead this season, including, so I'm told, one or two of some importance.

I fear you may be under the influence of a bit of S2, Bladey, bring-em-back parochialism?

If Porter scores.....

Cheers Pinchy, take your point about past players and the reference to Stead was purely because he moved yesterday. As for comparisons with Porter though, come on, look at the levels they scored their goals and just think about the players when you watch them. It's not just about goals it's about playing on his own up front and I know which one I'd choose every time.

As I said in my post, I'd have aimed higher and I can't think why we have left ourselves exposed. If Porter and Baxter get injured just imagine the team and bench we'd have at Wembley. History repeating itself, nightmare.

I agree with some of that pinchy but for me porter is getting away with it at the minute ,i mean barring a few penalties and a few tap ins ,no offence to the lad but he is shit,i dont mean bring stead in tho but there must be someone out there. We have taylor and miller out on loan ,lot better players imo but i dont think that takes
much.I think taylor will adapt well to sir cloughs style of play but thats only my opinion

Just so I am not misunderstood (perish the thought) I don't think Porter is the answer either. I have serious doubts about Taylor though.

The comforting thought for all of us is that we have Nigel as manager now. I'll be astonished if he doesn't bring in at least one striker who we will all approve of.

Who on earth would be offended by that sort of effervescent praise.

I, for one, thrive on such lavish compliments.

But then the team I support is Sheffield United so I am used to being mentally abused and disappointed in equal measure.
