Loan replacements for Arblaster

Tom Cairney would make a lot of sense

He could move between a deeper role and number 10, offering a lot of what Arblaster does in playing through the lines in a skillful and creative way. He's very experienced and has been promoted 3 times with Fulham. Has the bonus of being a left footer, which we're lacking compared to previous teams

He's only made sub appearances this season and being from this region, he may be very open to coming here for a few months

Billing would be a good shout as we'll need cover for Souza at some point too.
We also need some more experience for the second half of the season and a striker to compete with Campbell and Moore.
I am fine if we bolster the squad with a couple of frees.
So with the 2 loans we have left that means probably only one signing for a fee.
I am sure they'll be bids for a few of our players, hoping they all stay but if we have to sell anyone I would reluctantly look at offers for Norrington Davies and Brooks if we have to sell before we can buy.

Billing would add to or cover his physicality but despite his ideal DM type build, he’s more of an attacking midfielder. He’d be a good addition though.

34 in January and well into his decline. Would probably want a fortune in wages.

Nixon has a story this morning:
'Blades eyeing Liverpool starlet.'

Haven't got access to patreon, but presume it's Tyler Morton?

Is he the lad who fell over like his eye had fallen out after Iliman won the ball from him in the cup qtr final (build up to Doyle's goal)
Not sure he has the substance for a Wilder team and a promotion 'battle' based on that.
Would much rather play Peck for the rest of the season that have him.

Down the Channels yes, I'm pretty sure that was him.

However, he plays his most effective football in a double-pivot.
Deep-lying, box-to-box player, good at beating a press by taking it on the turn and has a decent passing range (similar traits to Arblaster).

Despite only being a 20 y old, he has 80 appearances at this level across spells with Blackburn & Hull City.

We need competition in the middle of the park with Arblaster out.
Peck is doing really well, but I wouldn't want to rely on him too much (yet) in a promotion race.
He'll see plenty of game time, regardless of bringing in someone like Morton as we've seen Wilder's strength in squad rotation (particularly around 3 game weeks).

I agree with all of that, he looks 'ok' at this level. But with 2 loan options left I feel we can do better.
I think we need even more experience in that position. If we could trust that Peck and Davies would stay injury free for the rest of the season I would feel more comfortable in that position too. But we do need another option there.
Maybe I need to watch his youtube reel to give me more confidence :)

Like the Harrison Reed shout. Good Championship experience and loves a tackle
I'd prefer a player who'd drop straight in as an above average Championship player straight away who we know coukd handle 3 games in a week. Ceiling may not be as high as a younger lad but we already have Peck

Problem you have is not to overly impact the team spirit.

If you get Brereton-Diaz, he’d be perfect left side cutting in.

But that then takes Hamer’s spot. JRS is a shoo in for the right.

Souza is always going to play. So already it leaves you Hamer, O’Hare, Peck, Davies for 2 remaining spots.

We lost Blaster but we didn’t know Peck would do ok or that Davies would make an instant impact; don’t get me wrong. I’m not expecting more than sub appearances this side of Christmas.

Within that equation, Brooks isn’t getting much game time of late and Shackleton is also a potential fill-in.

Just not sure who loses out to Morton.

Personally I’d still with the above, yet Brereton-Diaz and maybe, just maybe another forward you could bring on as sun who is more mature than Oné, perhaps that lad Barry, from Villa. That way, you’re also not placing too much reliance on Brewster either.

I agree with all of this. I well remember Man City signing Rodney Marsh late in the season, completely disrupting the dynamic of their team & it costing them the league title that had looked nailed on.

We need a stronger 20 man squad, all will have a part to play. So BBD - for example - might only start 25% of the time, but would be great as back up/changing a game.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying, perhaps one benefit of going for a youngster from a big club is that you'd have a higher chance of doing the deal early in the window.

I would think parent clubs of the likes of Reed, Cairney or Billing, would want to hold onto them late into the window to allow replacements to be sourced / to ensure they're covered for injuries.

Morton has a lot of similar qualities to Arblaster, I think he'd slot straight in and is experienced enough to hit the ground running.

well its beginning to look like its morton and bbd for our last 2 loans then bringing bbd back on the left would enable us to get hamer back in his best position in central midfield and im sure we would see him get more goals from there

That’s another balancing act.

If you bring in BBD, who was a certain starter last season, he isn’t going to drop to the Championship to be a sub.

I do think we can get the right recruitment through loans. Wilder has assembled a reliable core.

think he would start left side of a front 3 of rak-saki moore/campbell bbd he can also play as part of a front 2

We don’t want cairney too old now and way past his best

Had an eventful day for Fulham today.
Subbed on, scored an equaliser, got sent off.. all in the space of 20 mins.

Doubt they'll be loaning him out if he's getting game time and popping up with goals.

I wouldn't be against this. We need three minimum imo: LW, CM, striker. In an ideal world a centre back. I think Marsh can go on loan if we get the above.

Andre Brooks is a good LW not getting minutes at Sheffield United
Being kept out by 2 Rfooted CMs
Hes not good enough (at the minute) thats why and as been pretty poor for a while when called up on. Had a few decent cameos/games in first couple games then fell off massively.

He desperately needs a loan playing week in week out.

I would not want to rely on Brooks as our LW for the remainder of the season, I'd rather bring in a quality player on loan such as BBD who can play wide or up front.

Why don't we just play him there then. And start o hare out wide
been advocating that move for ages frank o'hares not done owt in the position hes being asked to play but is noticeable that hamer has been drifting in more centrally in last 3 games

Agree but you’ve also got to remember we’ve only really got 75% of a squad. We wanted more in the summer but couldn’t do it. So adding 3-4 players across the park isn’t a bad shout. We know Wilder is happy to rotate this season and the players seem to have bought into that. 6-7 players properly competing for the front four places and 4-5 competing for the two in midfield isn’t a disaster these days. You’ll always have one or two injured. Our first team is excellent but our squad depth is well below Burnley and Leeds.

I’d be happy to see another midfielder like Wharton come in and compete with Peck and Davies (both hold whom will need managing carefully this year, albeit for different reasons). A true starter like BBD on the left. Another number 9 to compete with Moore, plus a tall Center Back for cover.

I don’t think it would disrupt too much - Wilder is a great man manager in these situations as proved last time he took us up. I also recall Bournemouth (I think?) brining in a bunch of big names the Jan they went up and being criticised for it but it got them over the line.

Wharton? Seriously?
I can’t for the life of me believe Palace would ever consider letting him out on loan and if they did he wouldn’t be competing with Peck and Davies, he’d be the best player, never mind midfielder at the club.
If he goes anywhere it’ll be up the Premier League not down it.
