Anyone got anything booked? As is usually the case with United it’s all very late in the day leaving fans with little to go at. Flights to Lisbon look few and far between and pricey unless you travel to London.

Someone on Twitter said that accommodation is looking expensive too as there's a music festival on: https://www.musicfestivalwizard.com/festivals/nos-alive-2022/

When we went to Lisbon a few years back, we flew Ryanair from Stansted.

Nos festival (which I can highly recommend ) finishes on the 9th hence the high prices. The transport system, especially the trains are superb.
Staying about 10-15 miles outside the city would be a decent option.

EasyJet have just announced that there will be plenty of flight cancellations this summer, so be careful if booking with them and booking a hotel separately in case they cancel the flights and you’re left unable to cancel the hotel.

I flew Ryanair in May 2016 to see AC/DC concert. Stayed in Hotel Corinthia. Spot on.
Yes, Nos Alive is a mega festival with top acts on at the time so prices will ramp up. Ryanair you can do 7-10 July for c£300 return from MAN. Arrives 23.25hrs. yuck!. Accomodations near stadium as taxis cheap any maybe on the underground tube route as below.
All in all if you can get a week and fly non peak, in July lol!, flights cheaper. Use Skyscanner. Great vibrant city but I'm not heading based on cost as can't warrant it.
Check flights to Faro and if any coaches going up from Albufeira organized by Blades fans but a long shot. Celtic fans did that when playing Sporting Lisbon in Europe however thousands were in Albufeira.
The stadium only holds 5k.
Good luck.

Heres a 4 night trip at £172 return from Man via Bordeaux. If you don't mind hanging around in Bordeaux on the way home and arrival time to Man then not bad...if you like to see a new airport en route...

I looked at it in detail last night but it's pricey and wife hit the roof when I suggested it, I'll make do with Scunthorpe.
I’ve booked a b&b for me and the old man in Cleethorpes for Friday and Saturday night £150 with breakfast …

Anybody who books a 12h journey from Portugal to UK wants their bumps feeling

It all depends what time you have on your hands and as I have 24/7 365 currently, price wise that is best I could come up with from flying oop north. Still bloody expensive even with that accomodation for a 4 nighter!

This route and train to Lisbon is 3hrs ish c£25 one way. Still a ballache though... Return fare via train will be cheaper. You'd need a night in Lisbon also, or I would to quaff the Superbock after the game.

Flown to Lisbon and back using Manchester before. Don’t think it was too expensive, but then I went in September.

Great city. Make sure you go to the Time Out market. Some amazing places to eat and drink, including a few Michelin starred joints, at a cut price.

Also try the shots of ginjinha (local cherry liqueur). Good little place near Rossio station sells them.

Tui flight from Donny to Faro Thursday to Sunday best I found can do return on train from Ferrieras/Albufeira for about £40, saw one last night inc accommodation in Faro for 3 night less than £200., also need Friday night in Lisbon , not cheap , strikes on the rails in Portugal too so one to watch , all in all too much of a ball ache even to watch ou4 beloved Blades , bring back Scottish or Irish pre season and give us a bit of notice please

I am probably missing the point, but why should the Club be over concerned about fans when they have a pre season training camp abroad with a match at the end ?
It’s a United match. The club are wanting to stream it - so they realise fans want to watch (obviously). Some are happy watching, some want to go.

It’s the closest we get to seeing our club in Europe. It clearly isn’t for you but me and a fair few Blades I know love these sort of games. I suppose it would just be courteous of the club to keep supporters in mind when planning it, rather than 2 & half weeks notice.

Not one fuck is given about the fans for these games. It’s the same every season.
Maybe a controversial viewpoint but Hecky’s job is to get the players ready. This involves picking opponents, judging weather, travelling to foreign countries, hotels, flights, food, time zones, fitting it into the training schedule, passports, training facilities and much more.

It’s only one game and grounds are often so small fans we can’t have many fans and we don’t really need any since the result doesn’t matter.

The fact there’s a festival on and hotels are that bit more expensive isn’t United’s fault. They have a whole season to worry about fans.

Unless you were joking on which case lol :)

Understood.
Perhaps the club were not able to finalise the match earlier ?
Enjoy Lisbon if you can get, as it is a lovely city.

If they started planning a bit earlier I’m sure they could. When it’s the same thing every season it’s fairly apparent they aren’t taking fans who might like to go in to consideration.

I don’t expect Hecky sorting it ffs.

We don’t really need fans since the result doesn’t matter… oh right in that case fuck it I’m not bothered then. 🤣

I’m not saying the festival is anyones fault. It’s a consequence of leaving everything so late though.

Stacks of clubs announce pre-season details before the season is done. We book a week in Portugal or Spain and then scrape around looking for opposition and a pitch for a game. And if we find one we tell the fans 2 weeks prior.

Of course if you don’t go or have no interest then you don’t give a fuck - fine 👍🏼. If you like these things then it’s frustrating.

I did try and tell you on the 25th May :D

Im off to Algarve and Lisbon in September, im flying Manchester - Faro - Lisbon - Manchester

Flights between Faro and Lisbon via TAP are for nothing too as an option maybe. and I also found the price of cars to rent in Faro to be 1/4 of the price of car rental from Lisbon, also a reasonably priced flight from manchester to Porto on Wednesday 6th the train from Porto to Lisbon is direct

As a side note, there is a great little town round the coast called Cascais looking on Booking.com has a few nice places still available, a little further out but only a 30-minute drive. maybe an hour on the train/bus to Lisbon

Cascais is a beautiful place, spent a few days there once and it was brilliant. terrific train service from Lisbon as well -only takes minutes. Also Estoril is a very nice place to visit.

Where Ronaldo has bought land to build his post-retirement home. strange location as its basically in a golf course car park. The place itself is stunning though isn't it, cliff tops, beaches, surfing, nice town centre, good restaurants and a skip away from Lisbon also it's practically at the end of the IC15 with Casa Pia being at the other end

Thanks for that.

It is my understanding that the music festival is effectively on the same train line out of Lisbon to Cascais. If so, that'll be very busy (at times).
