Linesman near the South Stand

He didn't seem to know where the touchline was, standing a couple of feet behind it, therefore he didn't know when the ball was out (or indeed which way the throw in was). Very strange.
I liked him.

This happens time and time again. The linesmans role is redundant they make no contribution other than to point the flag the way the ref tells them.

Half the time they don't even watch the ball they are too busy looking for direction from ref- makes the role look insignificant and as human beings soul less thickos.

Linesmen are cuckold males..

Haven't been today because I'm on a family break..

Its fucking rubbish, never go away with your family ever.. Once you grow up, its a disaster from start to finish..

Did we draw?

Yes we drew.
It’s people like you that made the attendance not reach 30,000!
Tell the family to check fixture list next time before they book anywhere!!
Enjoy your evening with the family.
It could be worse - it could be the in-laws!

Half the time they don't even watch the ball

This would be directly related to their primary role, which is to call offside decisions, they will generally be watching the location of the last defender most of the time as a result

Thought all the officials were wankers, ridiculous amounts of time wasting and play acting from Brum and the ref let them get away with it. That lino on the south stand side forgot to bring his guide dog.

Watching Chong receive endless treatment then take forever to limp off to then run straight back on as soon Birmingham were attacking with a miracle recovery, was incredibly frustrating. Referees need to card these fuckers for simulation, but they never will.

The ref was okay and handled a few bust ups well, albeit not seeing McBurnie swing a punch (lucky boy).

The two linos were useless. The one by the Family Stand gave everything Birmingham's way, and one that led to their goal, though we should have defended it better.

Didn't notice myself as I was busy watching the match but it does make apparent lapses more forgivable. What was it like? Did it look soft to touch? Long enough to run your fingers through?

Long, covered his eyes

The role of assistant referees as they have been for well over 20 years (linos/lineman is your typical Sunday morning large lad that does "ins and outs") is a difficult one as its dependent on the referee on how much they want them involved usually the game is played in a large triangle between the 3 officials to allow them to pick up as much as possible. Its easy when you are sat 10 rows up stationary to say offside or onside, but pitch side and physically moving when the ball is played is alot more difficult.

The cunt didnt have a clue! Waited for the ref to call it and then just copied! Cunt!
I know they do this but I just don’t understand why. There job and the reason they are positioned on the line is to say if it went out, who‘s throw in it is and also assist the ref in key decisions like is it over the goal line.

Remember the Villa hawkeye no goal? There was a linesman directly in line with that with a clear view and he didn’t give it. I honestly think there’s no longer any point in them being there.

speaking of Chong, how the hell did he get away with grabbing Doyle round the throat? Deeney very cleverly went up to him as soon as he saw it and told him to fuck off over the other side of the pitch, which he did....as lucky as Oli Mac was for a swing and a miss, Chong was just as lucky not to see red

The reason is down to "fans" the
assistant will look at the referee one will make an indication one way or another and then they both go the same way. If for example the lino flagged and said it was X throw in but the referee was pointing in the direction of Y all hell would break loose. They would rather be both "incorrect" in unision than in conflict with each other

I'd forgotten to mention that. Maybe that's why the referee was so lenient.

I agree, if the Hawkeye technology works on the goal line, it could work all around the pitch so the ref could get a beep when it’s out. I’d rather have two refs on the pitch keeping an eye on all the shirt pulling and other nonsense at corners

Never described a refereeing performance as this, but it felt half arsed. Especially with the time wasting. They didn't seem bothered. Didn't want to make a big decision late on aswell. They stole a wage today.
