Watch the game again, got every tackle in, got to every clearance he had to, made runs, won the ball back several times, made good passes, he's an absolute pleasure, love the man, runs and runs and runs some more, he's 101% Blade, very underrated player.

I didn't actually think Basham played that well all night

Bash was easily the most consistent over the whole game.
Fleck had a poor 1st half but good 2nd.
Norwood was poor by his standards whole game.
Lundstrum was shocking whole game, I think he gave the ball away 5 times in succession in the 2nd half, Wilder I think also gave him a bollocking after that.
Egan not his best today.
Mcgoldrick very poor by his standards.
McBurnie got his goal but I thought another player who had a better 2nd half.
Steven's, Baldock & O'Connell while ok they have played alot better, certainly going forward.

Yes, he was great. I kept thinking "is that Basham winning that header/making that crossfield pass AGAIN?"

What an excellent, brief review.....that’s certainly the game I saw, and I’ll be interested to read Deadbat’s assessment later, then the Bladespod podcast on Monday, or whenever....onwards and upwards.....

By Bash's standards (maybe I'm just used to be him being fucking nop totch) it wasn't one of his best but definitely not his worst either.

Must've been everyone else on the pitch, making him look emense then?

I had Basham as our MoM. On a bad night for Egan, and an ordinary one for JOC, I thought he stood out.

Perhaps Fleck deserved it for his second half, but Bash contributed for the 90. And by the time he’s 40 he’ll be better than Van Dijk. 👌

We need to remember where we are now. This is not league 1. The teams / players that we are now facing are top class.

I was pleased overall with everyone's performance.

VAR or no VAR we deserved to win.

Re Lundstram - you're right and yes, Wilder did give him a bollocking for it. And Lundstram was giving Wilder some lip back. 5 minutes later he was subbed - and rightly so. I thought Lundstram did a few good things and particularly his ability to sprint 70 yards to get into the box for chances - that's pretty impressive. But he was woeful for most of the game and we looked a lot better when Besic came on.

Yes good point - it's easy to forget that, because of all the focus on VAR, but I thought it was pretty even first half, although I'd say West Ham looked the better side - their passing and movement was really good, but they had no goal threat in them. Second half I thought we took the game to them and were fully worth the 3 points overall.
