IMO - It actually works in our favour that the premier league clubs have so much money - they can pick and choose international managers at will and give them huge contracts. They can go for the newest shiniest thing on the market and replace it after 6 games if its not working. If wilder took a job and started with 1 point from 4 games and a league cup exit he'd already be on borrowed time at most premier league clubs in todays game.

Appointing a manager with no premier league experience (regardless of record) is seen as a backwards step or an unambitious appointment for most PL clubs. I don't buy into the reverse zenophobia argument that the media go out about "with top british managers not getting jobs" but certainly many owners are not willing to go against the grain when making appointments.

Hopefully its similar our chances of keeping with is the likes of O'Connell or Fleck. Why would a premier league side pay say £5 - 10m when they have the money to go and buy internationals from probably all bar about the top 10 European clubs and can afford to spend 20-30M quid without batting an eyelid.

Feel like the bigger threat here could be the spending power of relegated clubs.

Had a little time to think about this...I think it was the surprise of seeing the combined signing of really good players with Wilder's ability to lift both Coutts and Freeman as they blossomed and became integral to our success. It was such a strange feeling, especially after being sold pups far too often before Wilder took charge. It was as if one good, lower league, player followed another another through the door, so little surprise that I considered it something that would come to an end sooner rather than later. It's still happening though, and even though they're loans, both Blackman and CCV are here because we're now in the Championship. Top man is Chris for being able to have the sort of antennae that knows a player when he sees one.

We have a first rate manager, period.

It's easy to think that the whole momentum/ cup run mentality is what makes us tick (not that you're saying this btw)

Whilst there is an element of this (mentally players are remembering what winning the league feels like), there is clearly so much more to it

Warnock, used to work wonders with talentless players but got the best out of them through motivation and of course some of the elements of hard work, organisation etc... similar for Bassett

What Wilder has is a real footballing brain, takes all those elements, plus uses experts in sports science, fitness and analytics and produces the goods

Coutts always was a talent, but fitness and form was nowhere. So I think whilst he's a turn around, the likes of freeman, Basham, Duffy, Wright all have a story behind them. In fact take every player from Ched to Donaldson to Brooks to Duffy... we could doubt anyone of them to perform in league one let alone the Championship

I think the Norwich game was perfectly timed as it gave Wilder yet another example to prove his point to the players. Ched working his socks off for the team despite the pain. How much did that resonate with Leon and Brooks to do the same.

There's a lot of psychology work done by Wilder. How far this team can go is up to them.

For arguments sake Everton came in for Wilder. Do you think he'd go? Personally I think it would take a Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal to take him away from the lane and them clubs would never take him on because there fans would kick off big time about it. What kind of club, if any could take him away from us?
