It's getting tougher every week, but we are still a long way from the end of the season. We could turn things around.

I wonder if the owner wants to take a chance on bringing in some better players - I would understand if he didn't having seen money wasted on underperforming and expensive purchases, but that's the only way we are going to improve and stay up.

I see it completely differently.

The situation can be turned to our advantage. Unlike other clubs who will cling to their hope of survival until it's arithmetically impossible, we can now accept our impending doom five months early.

That gives those in charge plenty of time to plan for the forthcoming season in the division below. Hawk around those who may still have some transfer market value left, and prepare to bring in good quality Championship-ready players on sensible contracts.

I hope that they don't throw more money away on players that will be of little use, on PL salaries, only to have to try and ship them out again in June.

In some respects this abysmal run has been a blessing - and yes, it's taking a lot of effort to see the positive. But there is an opportunity there.

If we win at Brighton we are only 2 wins from safety

Looks bleak but it's not terminal

We just have to find our mojo

Long way yet from being consigned to the championship

No matter how shite we were today
Tomorrow is another day

I think if we win one, we'll win a few.

Could do with not taking a hammering on Thursday though

Interesting perspective and I get what you mean.

But I am concerned that we will fail to bounce straight back if we go down and there is such a vast gulf in income that we will struggle to compete and attract players and generally thrive. I think it is essential that we hang on to our PL status.

Nobody at all has said this so again stop talking shit! Of course these results matter of course he’s under pressure he admitted this himself! However people the people backing Wilder will point to the fact that he is still the best man for the job and because of the fact that he has taken us here so quickly he deserved the opportunity to get us back!
Why do people Keep making this stuff up about people defending wilder it’s complete shit!
In fairness, I have had a fellow Blade say this to me on a few occasions and there have been a fair few posts on social media saying the same thing.

On a separate point, how do these people you mention know he is the best man for the job ? At what point do these people think his position becomes untenable?

Wow.

I will try to remember how blessed I am when we are stuck in the bottom half of the Championship having set a record for the lowest points all time by a PL or football league team.

😂😂 by the time we play Burnley they’ll be another thread “just beat Burnley and we are only 3 wins and a draw away from safety”, they’ll keep popping up until the end of February when we can all accept that we have been relegated !
Love the positivity . Keep the faith

Agree we need to keep PL status. However, I cant see how we will do that especially with the negative tactics and long ball game we are currently using. Something has to change the downward spiral quickly

Don't take my comments out of their correct fucking context

the context is that there is a blessing in disguise. that is nonsense. This is a humiliation. it is torture. And it could damage the club for a long time to come. If you watched yesterday you saw what the players are like. They are broken. And most of them will be here next year.

And spare me the we can prepare for relegation argument. The same manager who you advocate stays to oversee next season failed miserably to buy players up to the standard this close season: every single signing is not good enough. He also completely misread what the needs of the team were. I have no faith that he will revert to pre 2020 form as if by magic.

Ah the glass is half full and has a crack in it outlook

It's not necessarily about bouncing straight back either. It's putting the club in a position where it can challenge consistently to do that.

I don't even advocate Wilder staying, necessarily, even if he wants to, but I don't see the point in bringing anyone else in at this stage to try and sweep up a mess that can't be cleaned up. We may as well see if he can adapt. I've already said on other threads I'm beginning to doubt that.

And we all know recruitment has been awful. It is torture, yes. I don't like it either, but this side will not improve enough to save itself so you either accept it and plan ahead, or you live in an S6 fantasy world.

Thats the beauty of pessimistic blades

Not only can they only see another 28 straight losses but are already writing us off in the championship next season

Such is their fervour for seeing failure in every where they look

Last season hurt . Having to accept we could compete. But a run of defeats has got them crowing like peacocks
Wallowing in the misery they missed

Really .
It's only a week since only an error from Fleck cost us v Leicester

We aren't a million away although Sunday was awful
But look at Burnley. They were struggling . Then at Arsenal a sending off for one of their players pretending John Wick had done a death grip on him and Lacazette heading an own goal were 2 bits of luck they needed to get a win

It's what we are well overdue
A kind deflection a kindly bounce a player sent off a dodgy penalty

We could complete last season....that was great. We arent competing this season and the style of football is awful.
We havent progressed . If we were playing good football and competing there would be less pessimism.

I have not seen one fan on here 'crowing like a peacock' that we are currently a very poor PL side. I have seen people question why we are now a very poor PL side

Form can fluctuate . We are in a stinker of a run
But why is it written in stone it's going to last all season by some

Have we not had bad runs before
Think most clubs go through periods when expectations are not met
Doesn't mean we can't come out of it

Nothing .
But if blades think owls can get safe we are in no worse a predicament
We have to finish above just 3 teams
Not catch liverpool

I just don't see it happening sadly.

I expected a performance yesterday even if we didn't get the points. It was just abject and lacklustre, the players look beat already.

We all expect a performance every game
But after 60 years of watching it has occasionally happened that we weren't very good on some given days
About 500 of them

But eventually we bounce back

After a season with Atkins and CWs first 4 games the future was looking one of never ending misery

Then it changed due to one late winner away

Because the things that need to change in order for that to happen aren't going to change.

We have some decent players but we need a change in tactics and some self-belief before we can put a run together. That's not going to happen while we keep on flogging le cheval mort.

So when were you promoted to the all seeing eye of the future
You can't know if a McGoldrick shot going 5 yards wide won't get deflected in v man utd
Or Brightons keeper kicks one straight to Mousset

It could be all we need to change the belief

I disagree about not having to bounce back. It’s about bouncing back within three seasons. Once the parachute payments run out our owner will struggle with the losses that almost every championship side faces, year on year.

What difference does it make if the pessimists suddenly start saying "we're going to win every game from here on in"?

I'll give you the answer, none at all.

The thing is, we deserve to be in the position we are in due to the way we've played for the majority of the season. We've had 1 game where we should have won (West Brom) and others where we MIGHT have got a point instead of losing (Leicester, Leeds). I don't think it's difficult to see why there are fans who don't subscribe to your view that "it'll be reyt because we turned it around 30 years ago" or "it doesn't matter if you lose to Liverpool because Barcelona once did".

It might turn around, great if it does. But the evidence so far suggests that it won't.

I can't wait for the first win, more to see your post saying "I told you we'd win one" than anything else.

If we beat Brighton and Burnley in the next 3 games then we still need snookers to stay up, it's hardly pessimism, it's realism. I'll still enjoy the wins because they'll be a step closer to 12 points.

Yes, that. Just bloody that.

I might become a Hollywood actor one day, it’s very unlikely as I’ve never really wanted to be one before and I’ve never actually had any training and stuff and tbh I’ve not even actually watched that many films but Sean Bean is a Blade and he did it so why can’t I?

Why would we need snooker after that
Our aim is 17th in may
Are we 20 points adrift
Are there only 12 points available now

We have competed in most games losing by the odd goal
Yesterday was a fucking awful display
But not all of our displays have been
