he is such a confidence player i can see him scoring 8 or 9 in this run, going off the boil and doing it again later in the season, if he does that and finishes with say 18 goals it would be incredible for us with goals to come from billy and donaldo aswell, i doff my cap to thee sir lion of bramall

Clarke has got ten goals in his last 16 league games for us.

When ever Leon played against us I though that he was was class! Shame he's not 5 years younger but what he's doing now is exceptional.

Flitcroft really didn't want to lose Leon and Wilder was relentless until he actually got him,he was his big target at the start of last season.I think a lot questioned the 3 year deal that Wilder offered him, many thought it was a risky bit of business, because of his age and for a player a lot didn't rate very highly. These fears were probably justified, but i feel that Leon guided by Chris and Alan could have a very good season,i really hope so.I get the feeling that he is is a sensitive lad,his celebration with Ched at the sty after he scored was very significant........good look Leon, enjoy your success,i hope it continues.

By my reckoning, he's got 10 in the last 13. 6 in 6 at the end of last season, and 4 in 7 this season. That's excellent form.

Not bad after his first 17 league games produced just his goal at Chesterfield.

I only saw him in the games against Chesterfield and Oldham in the first half of last season and he changed both those games, when he got fit he played well and carried that form into full games. He is just a clever footballer and does a lot of the nasty and cynical things with defenders that we lacked at times last season. I love him but then I can see past the "ex-pig" tag that tarnishes anyone who signs. I also really liked Cresswell for pretty similar reasons.

I had already remembered Leon Clarke as being a bit of a prick who always seemed to score against us. Never liked him and whenever he played against us that same knack used to my box in. Add in to the mix the former pig connection, and let's say I was never going to be his biggest fan.

He has got a lot of the attributes that a decent striker needs, strong, more skilful that people think, a bit faster than people realise and he can finish well. He is knocking on a bit as well, but he seems to have to that bit of extra nous as well.

The one thing I always think about Leon Clarke is that comes across as the grumpiest footballer I've ever seen, never smiles, always looks like he has got the weight of the world on his shoulders

An embarrassingly humble apology from me.
When we signed him, I thought it would be inevitable that he would be an utter non-entity.
But from bagging the winner that sent us up, to his invaluable contributions towards the latter end of the season, to his Pig slaying exploits to his two goals tonight, he has proved himself to be quite simply Harvey Priceless.

Long may if continue.
leon is a proper brummy , he never really shows his emotions or gets excited , I remember watching a Utube clip of the blades on the open top bus and everyone was stood up singing and Leon was sat there calmly taking it all in looking at his phone occasionally. He is doing a right job for us , and at the mo the only way billy and Donaldson will get back in is if Brooksy or Leon get injured.

From Clarke’s point of view he has to keep it up with Donaldson being signed.

What a selection headache to have though?

Does anyone know how far off Donaldson is?

From porktalk:

On Sunday...

...and on Monday...

He only looked as good because we made him look good. Had he come up against a resolute defence and a manager who knew what he was doing he would have been quiet as a doormouse.

...and on Tuesday...

Lets see how he gets on against Wolves (another former club) tomorrow.

Absolute bullock excrement, he was flipping poo so what we gifted him two, defence and Westwood had a shocker , even a stopped clocks right twice a day he won't score 10 all season wouldn't swap him for any of our strikers

...and after last night...

You were saying?

With the pigs fans' utter ignorance of what a good manager can do with good players it's no wonder that Deadloss and Chancer continue to get away with it. A lot of their 'fans' think Leon is 'a good L1 striker...no more.' Wonder if they'll come in for him next summer?

Must be time for me to point out that I've always seen his potential and defended him a number of times on here. Quite simply, the most natural finisher at the club.

The interview last night was the most lucid and articulate I have ever heard him. The management team are not only developing footballer's skills but appear to be developing their brains too. I have always said, self esteem makes or breaks a person. Wilder & Co seem to be covering all bases.

I was a huge fan of Cresswell during his time with us too. His work rate was outstanding and he could finish, both with feet and head. In the end I think he'd convinced most of our fan base that he was worthy of his spell with us.

Bit like this guy!?

Ok, maybe not quite as good a footballer, but quite frankly although I'd love him to kiss the bade, jump into the crowd and sing the Greasy Chip butty, we all know that's not Leon, but if he's allowed to be himself like he is right now then we have a dangerous player at this level. His 23 goals in 32 games or whatever it was for Cov, says how he can get on a run of goals and destroy teams. It might have been League One but his ability to finish is the same in whatever league.

Been happening to a few on here over the past 12 months....can’t be a lot of that humble pie left, just about everyone has been having a slice.
Perhaps a lesson for us all, never write any player off. Especially one signed by Chris Wilder. Give them time, support them and encourage them. It’s the future!

Never thought I would hear a Blades crowd chanting “LEON...LEON” To the Deano tune.

Suppose we should all fess up and admit it....who else have we written off and been made to look a bit daft?

Me first...a cracker. “Harry Maguire is t premier league quality, I think his lack of pace will see him fall short of establishing himself there”....what a bell end.

I think while Leon is getting the goals, we must also acknowledge Brooks in all this too. They're forming a good partnership.

A few games ago I was more than happy with the partnership of Billy and Leon (or 'Billion' as I like to call it) and then Billy and Clayton (or 'Bill Clinton' as I like to call it). Now it's time for a whole new partnership.

Step forward 'DavLeonClaBrooks'.

Well, at least you doubted him for footballing reasons mate, unlike some on here who doubted him because he was ex Wednesday.

(Got an Owl tattooed on his leg y'know?)

Always just a question of fitness with Leon for me,i always thought of him as a proper all round Striker..strong,links up well, decent finisher and works hard..If he can stay fit,he'll be difficult to shift...what a couple of games against former clubs aswell.

The Wednesday connection with players/managers never bothers me. In fact I find it pathetic when Unitedites use it as a reason to not like somebody. Not to mention unfair and counterproductive, like the way we "welcomed" Cresswell and Wilson to the club.

I recall when Clarke was paired with Wilson at Coventry. Together they were special, so it's not as if he hasn't shown quality before. He's getting service and responding to the challenge. We're a good side, so not surprised at all regarding the way Leon's playing.

Thought he was a good signing last year but would be surplus this

Wow! Is that the only thing in the world, ever, that has never bothered you? :-)

I'm in the pathetic group then. They have to run their trotters off first as far as I'm concerned.

By your logic, Uber-Pig Curran should have been welcomed with open arms.

Apart from one exception, I've welcomed them all and to be fair almost all have done reasonably well. Apart from Stainrod and Varadi, can't recall too many playing for us and later for them and doing well.

I did. It was a Blades crowd chanting 'LEON.... LEON' to the tune of 'Portsmouth' by Mike Oldfield that I had trouble visualising.
