Six in thirty nine Championship games?
Maybe Hull and Fulham remember things quite differently.😔😊

I still say his biggest problem has been teams looking at him and assuming he's a target man when actually he's a bit weak with his back to goal. Get the ball into dangerous areas and he'll score goals. Age is against him but used well he'd be a good signing for Charlton.

If another Championship club was interested in Leon and their fans asked what he’s like? Is he any good?
It would be quite tricky to assess Leon because he’s a bit of an enigma.
Some say he’s crap......some say he’s great, a real talent and you can understand both viewpoints.

You know how many players have good games or bad games.....
Well Leon often has the good game and bad game....within the same game.
He has this habit of missing easy chances but then his next chance will be really difficult chance and he’ll show some class by converting it.
He will also mis control the ball like he’s a donkey with no ability....then the next time he’ll be like David McGoldrick....bring a difficult ball under control then produce a subtle brilliant pass to set his fellow striker up with a great chance. He’s a bit slow but decent intelligence showing some nice link play.

Leon has this languid style as though he‘s lazy but seeing him over a long period that was inaccurate because he ran about and worked hard for us.

Leon Clarke has always been a lower league journey man who pops up with producing moments of class.
Its those moments that ensure he’s always earned good contracts but he’s never been consistent enough.
Some would have said he’s wasted his career...unfulfilled promise but at least he delivered and was a success with us. Wish him well wherever he goes.

Like several others who will probably never play for us again, when he leaves, he leaves with our respect, admiration and thanks. Played a huge role in an era that was beyond dreamworld 4 years ago.

Thanks a million Leon. I hope you get a decent move and score a few more goals.

If it was only that then he’d deserve the Key to BDTBL, but it’s not just that. It’s been his application, his professionalism and skill. It’s been his humility and pride. He is a Blades hero and when I reflect back on this era in years to come, Leon will always be a hero.

Well said mate!

Leon has produced some of the best finishes I've ever seen in the flesh, so he's obviously a great striker. Consistently a great striker, not so much which is his issue and an issue for a club at either end of the table.

Would be a good signing for someone midtable in the Champ who just needs an experienced, skillful player to bag a few extra goals.

Still a couple of seasons in him yet.

My sentiments exactly Hilly , and was going to post something similar
Anybody who scores against the “Dem Pigs 🐷 “ at any time deserves our respect ,
I watched the highlights on the train home from work yesterday, of that game , I’ve never tired of watching it and most of us never will
Since that game we seem to have gone from strength to strength thanks CW / AK
While the galacticos from up the road thankfully are turning into an even bigger shit show , every week throws up another problem and even bigger than before
Roll on the points deduction

The Leon signing set the precedent for what we can expect from Wilder when signing players. Often seen to be ‘past it’, questionable attitude on the face of it and someone who had only ever really done it at a lower level.

Well, as it transpired Chris Wilder did know what the hell he was doing and in Leon we have had a player who has scored some famous goals for us and broken a few records along the way. The season he had during our first year back in the Championship was unprecedented and he was totally unplayable for the opposition on many occasions.

I wish him all the best and I’m sure he has a few big goals left in him yet!

Saw a graphic the other day listing the strikers who had scored the most goals against each premier league club Aguero was the one for most clubs.. the guy who had scored the most goals against us is Leon Clarke 😂

Leon Clarke, during that purple patch at the beginning of the 17/18 season, put in the highest level of individual performances I've seen from a Blades striker (I started avidly attending approx 20 years ago). He was absolutely superb.

A shame that he couldn't keep it up, but for that contribution (remember we were 1st in the Championship during that patch) & for the takedown of Wednesday at Hillsborough - he will always be very fondly remembered by me.

Good signing Leon, he is off to Shrewsbury, I believe. Many thanks for smashing the oinkers at rustville.

I'm sure he could get a Championship team if he wanted to but Shrewsbury is close to home for him so I guess that'll be a factor. I think he lives in Bromsgrove so that's a fair drive to Sheffield when he's been with us! He'll forever be a Blades favorite I'm sure, and not many would have thought that when we first signed him!

Leon has played a full part in the story of success we have enjoyed over the last three years.
As, and when, he goes he will leave us with some terrific memories and our full respect.
Scored some vital goals at important times and will forever be known for his brace in the bouncing day win.
