What the fuck has Wilder done to this bloke?? I remember him as a sulky lazy player in years gone by, now he's full of energy, aggressive and a proper team player. He never stopped running today (and for most games this season) from the first minute until the last. He looks like he's absolutely loving it at the lane (like the other 26000 of us). Great signing, but the management of him is astounding. Massive credit to both him and the manager/coaching team!!

Arm around him and him feeling valued/wanted?

Agree with the sentiments of the OP but don't know where some fans get the "in the past he's always been a mardy idle player" from ... every time I'd seen him against us he always seemed to tear our defence apart, on a far too regular basis.

I was always a big fan of The Chief, big Wayne Alison, Leon Clark is taking over that mantle of the big centre forward who was under estimated and under appreciated by some supporters, but is actually a serious footballer. Great credit to CW and AK, who throughout his injuries kept faith in his real ability. Top top blade.

I agree entirely. As it happens though, the only person I've heard say that in "real life", was my piglet (best) mate when we briefly discussed the derby game...I didn't need to say anything. Her pain was palpable...

he’s always been a good player .. especially against us.. it was a back handed compliment that he had to win the fans over

Take a look back at every goal we’ve scored so far (the ones where Clarke was on the pitch) and look out for his reaction when the ball hits the net. It’s brilliant to watch

Said the same...

You watch his reaction to Duffy's goal at Swillsboro.

It's a joy to watch.

Said it on a number of occasions but the turn around in his fortunes for us is incredible

He wasn’t a fans favorite by any stretch after his slow and injury hit start for us. But back end of the season when allowed to get fully fit he was electric.

Personally, I also think it’s telling that whenever wilder mentions key pro at the club; Leon always gets namechecked. He’s doing something right and wilder is getting the best out of him and he’s clearly not the sulky lad he was earlier in his career.

He certainly was MOTM. Duffy not far behind though.
The running he did today made it so much easier for the midfield and defence. He is such a handful and it is time for some to realise it is not all about our midfield. We have footballers in every position and on the bench too.
Well done Leon and keep it up lad.

Tufty when he signed him
"Come and join a proper family son...."
"oh and you never know you might get a couple up the road...."
:)

Some of us rated him from the start. Some of us hated him from the start because he'd once played for another Sheffield club. Some of us made allowances for the fact he wasn't at his best early on, due to injury. Some of us ignored that and used it to reaffirm their view that he was crap. Some of us felt he was probably the best centre forward at the club. Some of us said he couldn't play alongside Billy Sharp.

I'm just pleased that the majority can now appreciate what only a few seemed to appreciate a short while ago.

I thought he had another good game today, although he should have buried that chance in the second half when Brooks put him clean through one on one.

He is so physical. League 2&1 defenders don’t have the technical ability that these championship players have but most in the lower leagues are incredible in the air and very very strong. Clarke seemed to bully Lori?? Very easily today. He seems to be able to be such a big presence.

AK had him at Scunthorpe and he scored for fun there too. It’s just that CW and AK extensively scout and know the players there bringing in.

I never realised he had such pace. I commented during the match, I’d never seen it before.

He is the best defender, yesterday the work he did across their defensive line forced errors hoofballs that we won or errors.

I enjoy watching him enjoy his football at the moment.
