Smashed one in against Cov, just when we needed it..

Scored a cracker against Northampton, just when we needed it..

Just how crap is that? ;)

Exactly. Helped get us over the line emphatically when Billy, as great and iconic as he has been, had run out of legs. Without Leon we could easily have taken a point or two from the last two games. Got fit at exactly the right time and played his part.

give him the ball in the right areas and he will score a very good finisher as proved today oh and lets put to bed the pig theory as proved in the car park tonight arms aloft singing we are blades well done big lad

If you don't want to get into a row about it, why post?

Top record at this level over many years, CW thought he was worth a 3 year contract, dreadful time with injuries, cometh the hour......

Sorry, didn't realise this was just a thread for arse lickers, my mistake.

I think the whole team are performing brilliant considering that the championship is done and dusted, so easy to switch off and this team weather in first or second gear gets the job done. Love em. UTB

I'm pleased to say that I thought he'd do well for us as shown below when he signed! Smug mode!;)

I'll keep saying it because its not about next season its about now and getting a realistic goalscorer, they don't come much better than Clarke at this level. I'd go up to £400,000 if it meant promotion, due to his goals. Wouldn't you?! Tell me another realistic goalscorer that will compliment Billy that is going to get 20 goals? I can think of a few out and out target men who will due a Chief role and come off the bench etc and ruffle a few feathers, hold the ball up and work hard, but no one who can score goals like Clarke can at this level. Just look at his record at Chesterfield, Southend, Coventry and now Bury. Yes he didn't do so well at Charlton or Swindon but I'll go on his most recent years at Coventry and Bury.

He's been injured which stopped him scoring more than he has bur he's proven when fit how good he can be. Obviously its a step up next season but I think he's earned his place in the squad for next season.

I keep saying this but surely someone has a photo for Wikipedia of Leon wearing a Blades shirt as opposed to the one from years ago at the Pigs?

index.php

Upton Blade took one in the pre season and its above here but I have no idea how to get them on Wikipedia and whether it needs to taker of the photo to give permission. Its only a minor thing but I find it hard to see a player of our squad wearing that awful Wednesday jumper!

Leon has shown what he is capable of when he is fully fit, and more importantly, when he is in the right frame of mind.
He seems to have a complex personality, but if anybody can keep him focused and successful, it is the management team of CW and AK.

I dunno but I emailed sky because the Billy photo on the score centre app was him wearing a Leeds shirt despite two years and forty odd Utd goals being scored in the interim. Within a day they changed it.

Clarke has always had ability but in my humble opinion he was always somewhat laconic, but bagged a few goals at this level and everyone thought he was alright. After an indifferent season riddled with injury, it seems to me that Wilder has put a rocket up him and really got him fit. Consequently Clarke is now playing really well and showing us what a good player he can be when fit, motivated and injury free. I know many will disagree but I think he can be a big player for us next season. Credit to the lad and of course to Wilder!

Pity Billy and Leon can't play together....
Haha to be honest I mentioned it to SBT on this thread about them both bringing the best out of each other next season. Both have shown recently that they can score goals whilst on the pitch at the same time, so who knows? We will have to wait and see.

I know its petty but it just bugs me seeing him wearing the Wednesday shirt on Wikipedia!

Still don't rate him. I mean, sure he's scored 6 in 5, but he's not occupying defenders like Hanson used to do. I mean Hanson might have only scored 1 in 11, but the way he took defenders away to create the space was brilliant. I loved it.

Clarke 6 in 5, good movement and link up play.... rubbish. Bring back the non-scoring occupier of defenders!!

Clarke clearly has lots of natural talent.

He's probably had 17 different clubs because never been at a club with a top quality manager who can channel that talent... until now?

Clarke and Hanson are different types of player.
When Hanson plays we tend to hit balls forward earlier towards him, whereas from my observations we are able to pass it more with Clarke.
I just think Clarke is far more mobile and has a better touch than Hanson.

Hanson has done a job....but Clarke has shown genuine ability in front of goal that Hanson will never have.
Hanson will be sold on I reckon

I think you have a problem.

We had an unbelievably good day yesterday after a fantastic season, and all you can do is get a dig in at a player who has made a contribution to this for us.

Perhaps time to post one about how shit Monty and Quinn were too, eh?

Oh dear. A post made in jest and you reply with the classic 'begging for likes' response. Seriously mate, give it a rest.

These are my most disliked posts on this forum as it's sole purpose is to get like and offer nothing to the debate or conversation.

'Oh, we win and you still find something to moan about'.

We've seen it a million times pal, and your point about Monty and Quinn is straight up bizarre and irrelevant.

Ok, I'll be explicit. I think Clarke is better than Hanson. Sorry if that offends you, hope you enjoy your likes for your comment.

Jest? Oh yes, tee hee hee.

I wasn't 'begging for likes' I was just knobbed off that after such a wonderful day out, someone could use it to have a pop at a player.

If you post was a 'joke' then fair enough but please don't attribute guessed motives to my post.

They were the first examples I could think of, who got stick from some Blades, whatever the result. Sorry if you found it bizarre but it was not irrelevant.

You are entitled to your view and Clarke's recent goal tally would support you. Hanson has still made a contribution though, hence my post defending him.

Thanks for the invitation to enjoy my 'likes'. I'll tot them up later and wank myself silly over them. It really is that big a deal to me.
No, really.

(And I don't mean in the same side, just nice to have options depending on the opposition).

Wilder will probably give Sharp, Clarke and Hanson an opportunity next season but in reality probably none of them will be good enough to play regularly at Championship level.
We're going to need at least one new quality centre forward.
