Knew he'd have his say before the end of the season.

That equaliser all but ensured we wouldn't be celebrating promotion with a defeat, and that was a massive relief for me. It would've been a bit shit wouldn't it?

Delighted for him because some of the stick he's had has been fucking pathetic.

Had a mixed first half I thought – he, Carruthers and O'Shea started ok, but I didn't think either of the latter two really worked well with him. Second half I thought it was similar to midweek, as he linked up well with Sharp and Hanson and took his goal extremely well. He's played an important role. I recall at Christmas plenty thought it would be a struggle to find a club that would take him – if we do decide to move him on this summer, I've no doubt it won't be a problem.

Now, it may be a beer/whiskey/champagne thing blurring my judgement... but it seemed to me that for large parts of the first half there was long passes to Clarke, which is not really his game. Second half, Wilder brings on Sharp and Hanson.. More of the same? Nah, put it on the floor and knock out another 3 points and a promotion. Clarke's goal was tremendous.

And him singing "We Are Blades" is just another jewel in the treasure trove of this season.

What actually surprised me is his ability to play a decent long pass. Done it a couple of times inch perfect. Said it before and ill say it again, he's an excellent player to have at this level. Had he not suffered with injuries all season I think he would of contributed enough to be praised with the likes of fleck, Duffy and sharp. Although I rate him at this level I doubt he would be good enough to start next season, maybe off the bench but he wouldn't struggle to attract another league one club and could leave with our well wishes after this come back.

The boy done good

come back from a string of injuries
and delivered when it mattered

got another chance and has taken it with both hands
lifted us up a division winning 2 games with his goals

For me, either he or Hanson (or both) will probably need to make way for new blood. There will be others we move on too that CW will judge unable to make the step up. Let's worry about that in the summer though.

Good player, never doubted it for a second.

Didn't post this at the time but I spoke to him briefly a few weeks back in Superdrug at the train station, of all places. Came across as a nice kid who was clearly fed up of being injured. He told me he had just started training again with the rest of the team and was looking forward to a chance. Fancied himself for a few goals on the run in.

Well done Leon.

Leon's a very good footballer (& a goalscorer to boot). Properly fit now & showing exactly what he can do when he's facing goal with the ball at his feet. And now a legend after the "we are Blades" chant.

More than worth giving opportunities to next season. He'll be hungry.

At the risk of beinf shot down I think Clarke would be more potent next season than Billy much as I adore him.
There. I've said it.
And I think Lavery should be first name on the sheet up top.

Same as always.

Good player at this level who's been unfortunate with injury and hasn't had a chance in a fully functioning team.

Some of the shit that gets said about him is pathetic, I'm glad he's shutting a few people up.

By all accounts he's been a great professional too. His character often gets questioned but I don't think there's any problem with him, he's just a bit different, a bit understated.

Agree with all that, and was slagged off by the usual suspects on here at the start of the season, when he was clearly the best player on the park for us in the first couple of games. Hanson gets similar criticism from the same, who clearly don't understand or appreciate what an effective target man brings to the team. Anyway enough of that, Up them Blades! What a cracking day today :)

I've said this elsewhere, I think it's his body language that does him no favours. He looks like he's not interested, but he certainly is. He just have to look at the way he's knocked our defenders about like they were bowling pins in the past to know that.

I rate his performance off the bench at Chesterfield as one of the stand-out individual performances of the season, I'm delighted for him that he's managed to back that up with a couple more, and at such a crucial time.

Impact.
I said this after the chessie game.
The lad has class .

Didn't rate him before the last couple of games, don't rate him now. Not getting into a row about it because now's not the time. Glad he's chipped in a wee bit of late, it's what he gets paid for.

It was worth signing him just to stop him scoring against us, but I'm glad he's got some important goals for us.

If you don't want to get into a row about it, why post?

Top record at this level over many years, CW thought he was worth a 3 year contract, dreadful time with injuries, cometh the hour......

Smashed one in against Cov, just when we needed it..

Scored a cracker against Northampton, just when we needed it..

Just how crap is that? ;)

Hopefully they can get the best out of each other.
