Good night, didn’t get hammered, rested important players and the ones that came in looked good in all.

No distractions now for the run in.

Bit disappointed to be honest. Leicester there for the taking.

Surprised that Chris played so much of a B team but prioritising the league I guess. Thought that the players brought in to start all had poor games and didn’t take the opportunity to impress apart from Wright.

Good to see Brooks back playing though and already looks dangerous.

Excellent performance from Jack and Blackman.

Credit to the back 6 tonight including Lundstram. Toothless going forward apart from Brooks and Duffy.

If we can setup like that and have relative success against good PL teams we’d have hammered some Championship teams with the same on the break.

Great to have Brooks back. Blackman was massive and claimed and saved everything.

We applied ourselves well tonight considering the quality of the opposition. You can’t give Vardy a free header in that position and expect him to miss. Brooks made all the difference second half as he was prepared to run at the defenders. The sooner he is completing 90 minutes in the Championship the better.

UTB.

Plenty of decent performances this evening – O’Connell in particular had his best game in ages, as did Stevens, while Baldock and Lundstram were both really good. Also great to see Brooks looking fit and hungry – looked a constant threat.

Onto Tuesday...

He played well in the second half.

for the third time of asking name those players, you suffering selective memory loss.https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/mahrez.62349/page-2#post-1613868

Wowzers, I can’t even remember having that discussion. You quite clearly didn’t understand my point anyway.

My point was that you seemed to be terrified of what Mahrez might do. I said that we had played against better players than him and had no reason to be so scared. You said we hadn’t played against better players under Wilder. I said that strengthens my argument even more as Wilder would be less worried about players such as Mahrez than previous managers as he sets his teams up to play without fear.

I’m sure you really don’t need me to name players who we’ve played against that are better than Mahrez.

Very good combination between Mahrez and Vardy, which is why they're both internationals and Man City tried to buy Mahrez. It was one of the few bits of quality they were able to produce and that's down to our hard work and organisation. We made a top ten PL side look fairly ordinary for a lot of the match.

I cant be disappointed thought he got team selection spot on having the 3 more defensively minded central midfielders & rotating the squad considering including today we have 4 games in 11 days. After tough 1st 30min delighted to be 0-0. As Leicester were playing well. Gray Mahrez & Vardy putting us under the cosh few times but after that i thought we competed very well v Leicester side that amongst starting 11 & subs. had 8 of players that played in everton game where they lifted Premier league title less than 2 years ago with Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Fuchs, Mahrez, Gray, Albrighton & Vardy

we didnt have as many chances as them but particularly 2nd half we had dangerous moments scaring Leicester at times. couldve got replay but for a few great saves by Schmeichel & that great tackle from maguire on brooks. Positive played well we ate getting people back & brooks looks like hes never been away

Brooks willingness to run at defenders is good but he's still making too many bad decisions, against PL defenders that's not going to work. That's age though. He'll learn.

I'm disappointed with tonight, thought we only showed some intent going forward after they scored. We opened them up a number of times in the last 15 minutes, if we'd have gone at them from the off we might just have been in the hat for the quarters.

The way I see it, that's another season when I'll not be seeing United in a cup final, I'm 49 now, my dad was born in 1942 he never got to see them in a cup final, I hope I get to see them lift the FA Cup just once in my lifetime!
