Here's one who has not been mentioned anywhere.

He s very experienced at championship level.

Taken teams up

Worked on low budgets.

His sides play good football.

And a strong point in his favour he s available without any compo

George Burley

Also allededly likes to spent a lot of time with WAGS of players he sends out on loan.... BUT that doesn't make him a bad manager

Heard him on talkSport on my way back from the Killing Fields and thought the same Ken. Reasonably safe pair of hands with the philosophy to bring in the young players and mind the shop whilst we see how Pembo develops.

Is he really one for the young players or operating on a small budget.

Taking Hearts as an example the wage budget he had was massive for an SPL side outfit the Old Firm. He was able to sign Takis Fysass who had won Euro 2004 with Greece, Edgaras Jankauskas who had won the Champions League under Mourinho at Porto, Roman Bednar who was later to score a barrowload in the Championship, Rudi Skacel and the money was found to keep Craig Gordon at the club on a £20k per week contract.

All in all the annual wage budget shot up to somewhere in the region of £15m per year.

George Burley is not a cheap option and has a habit of leaving jobs in acrimonious circumstances..... Derby, Hearts, Scotland!

He is very much a short termist and definitely not what we need at this moment in time, albeit he would probably have been the perfect man to succeed Warnock back in 2007.

Presumably all the spending was sanctioned by Mad Vlad, who then sacked him whilst atop the league? If that constitutes failure.........

I think any manager who has had any length of service behind him will have as many black marks on his cv as big ticks, indeed can't see any of the candidiates mentioned who are all gold standard, but that's partly because we are where we are. Wouldn't be my first pick either, but I remember the style his Ipswich and Derby teams played and see that as fitting where we want to go .

Cant believe what Ive started here. Raul actually agreeing with me!!!! Armageddon!!!

As in Armageddon out of here.

I dont believe for a minute we will get George Burley. It was just a way off centre thought.

He would be a good appointment, but having a manager who is a heavy drinker is not a good situation to be in.

Robson was out on the piss, getting drunk a lot of the time when he was Blades manager, and Kendall's reign quickly went downhill when he started on the piss again.

Walkin' in a Kendall wonderland

Didnt suggest for one moment he was a failure, in fact I finished by saying he may well have been the best person to have replaced Warnock.

All I am pointing out is that what he achieved wasnt some kind of shoestring miracle.

It also worth pointing out that it wasnt only Vlad the Almighty that he had issues with.

In summary he is a good manager, but not what we need right now and is he necessarily the best role model for our youngsters!!

Always makes me laugh when you start pontificating about blokes having a drink Brownie, because that's what they are, blokes just like you and me. OK they have big salaries but so fucking what if they like a beer or ten? You, and a few others come on here gobbing off about how much you can sup so what's the difference? You have jobs, you shouldn't drink on a school night but you do so ffs stop the holier than thou bollocks when to be honest, you don't even know if it's true. Just like when Robson was manager, you'd never seen him pissed but you'd got a "mate" who had, or an "insider in the squad". Laugh my tits off at all that shit, if he really was an alecart the coppers would have been waitning to breath test him every morning because nicking a high profile bloke like him would have scored them some real brownie points (pun fully intended).

All fucking bollocks this, we'll get who we get, probably Danny pig bastard Wilson and that'll be the end of it, we have no say in it so who gives a shit, if we don't like it Uncle Richard can arrange to have a box of tissues on each seat next season so that when we start crying we'll be ok to wipe up the tears, bless him
