A nothing club from its formation in 1919 to 1960. We'd been one of the top Clubs in the country by the time they were thought of winning the league, 3 FA Cups and the Champions of Great Britain trophy.
Fast forward to 1961 when Weeds scum employed what was to be one of the most hated Managers in English football Don brown paper bag Revie. For the next 13 years he employed anti football tactics with his team despised for its gamesmanship. He want on to rip off the whole country when he did his shady deal with the Arabs and left England FC in the shit.
Cloughie was right they won most of their trophies by cheating. They hated hearing the truth and made sure they got rid of him in 44 days. He went on to become one the finest managers in English football.
Bremner, Hunter,Giles and co would have no problem with seriously injuring a player to make sure they won. In a game against Cloughs Derby County they put two or three of their players out of the game deliberately to make sure they were weakened them for an up and coming European tie. Fans all around the country celebrated during this time when Weeds kept missing out on trophies in finals and coming second in the League hence the creation of the chant "We all fucking hate Leeds".
As for their self entitled fans who came out of the woodwork in the 60's its laughable that they see their biggest rivals as Man United. A club in terms of stature tradition and history that far outweigh anything Weeds have ever done. Most Reds find this hilarious.
You had to be there to experience it in the 60s and 70s to understand the depth of hatred for this Club by Blades. Weak SUFC Board's constantly caving in to let Jones, Currie, Sabella, Hamson, Edwards and eventually Deane go to them only added to the angst.
In the 80's their scummy racist fans began to excel in violence off the field when their team became crap. They may have taken the Kop at 5 o'clock in the 70's but Blades fans were having none of it thereafter hence a number of battles off the pitch.
The biggest humiliation for them was when Warnock got us promoted in 2006/7 and they failed at Wembley and we went next season and took Hulse and Killgallon off them.
In recent times due to a long period out of the top flight their fans seem to have become more humble towards the Blades as some have recognised the work that CW has done. Make no mistake if they get back into the top flight the media's love in with us will disappear as they move onto cover the whites from Yorkshire with hardly a second thought for that team of triers from Sheffield.
Pigs have always been our rivals but lets not forget the second class citizen we are deemed to be when Weeds are doing well. We are top dog In Yorkshire at the moment long may it continue.
Well they know that but it suits their argument to ignore it.They put us to the bottom of their xmas card list after Mr Basham spoilt their party. What a shame.Surely the more relevant point is that Sheffield football fans have 2 teams to choose from?
If you lived and worked here you'll know that the Rhinos are the biggest team in Leeds. When I worked/lived there, I had this debate many times with Leeds fans. Their excuse was that Rugby is just as big in the region so they’re not a one-club City, as the other is Leeds Rhinos. Make of that what you will. I laughed out loud every time.

The other lot fly and bus their support in from all over the globe.
It's a throwback to the 70's glory hunters who's offspring are now following the family tradition.
Not true.Great argument if nobody who goes to the football, goes and watches rugby and vice versa. Of course, the majority will support both.
According to my Leeds supporting mate, this is why their week night attendances dont sell out, because all their thousands of overseas fans cant make evening games. If you lived and worked here you'll know that the Rhinos are the biggest team in Leeds.

My daughter works in the Scarboro Taps in Leeds and she will tell you that every home match it's stuffed with Scandanavians in there.According to my Leeds supporting mate, this is why their week night attendances dont sell out, because all their thousands of overseas fans cant make evening games.
They're bigger than massive you know. Just fuck the fuck off. The one reason I won't be upset if the league's season is written off. Laugh? I'd split my sides
Oh yeah ! That special rivalry they have with Man Utd. I lived in Manchester between 1983/86, near Maine rd and used to drink and pal about with Man Utd and City fans and I can tell you they never mentioned Leeds, it was all « effing Scouse this effing Scouse that ».
I went to a Liverpool v Everton League Cup final replay at Maine rd around 1984-5, I can tell you, that was fun around Rusholme after the match
Me too. Sheffield population with surrounding villages I thought was nearer to 1 million.Don't know where you've got your population numbers from but it doesn't look right, i always thought Sheffield was fifth behind London, B'rum, Manchester and Liverpool.
It is. People from Rotherham, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Doncaster and all the villages in between attend matches at Bramall Lane and that other ground every week. It's the same in Leeds with Bradford etc etc. If you want to compare the population v attendance figures the only fair way to do it is on the metropolitan area.Me too. Sheffield population with surrounding villages I thought was nearer to 1 million.
I used to go over work in South Manchester in 90’s contracting , Rusholme , Hulme & Moss Side were interesting
Nearly correct, swap Manchester for Glasgow and I’d agree with you.Don't know where you've got your population numbers from but it doesn't look right, i always thought Sheffield was fifth behind London, B'rum, Manchester and Liverpool.
Longsight was even more interesting. I also lived on Dickenson road Rusholme. Never seen as many Currie Houses. Not been there for 30 years. At one time Hulme was the most densely populated area in Europe.
Fond memories
But couldn't sell bramall lane out for a league cup tie?I think where Leeds come into there own is the away following, no one can deny they’re impressive. They’d sell out 4k anywhere in the country on a Tuesday night in December in any league no matter their league position.
But I agree their home attendance is not all that for a one club city that also has a huge surrounding area with no clubs in top 3 divisionlike WF, YO, BD HX
Which one was that the Jags screamer game? Top deck BL Upper sold out didn’t itBut couldn't sell bramall lane out for a league cup tie?
Yes that game and no it didn't. Leeds away numbers are good now but not back then. Pigs are the same go about away support when there's used to be average.Which one was that the Jags screamer game? Top deck BL Upper sold out didn’t it
I could’ve sworn it was full. Maybe I’m thinking on the FA Cup game the same season.Yes that game and no it didn't. Leeds away numbers are good now but not back then. Pigs are the same go about away support when there's used to be average.
I live in a cul de sac in Morley and two of my neighbours opposite are season ticket holders at the bottom of Churwell Hill.I work In Morley ,about 3 miles from Elland road. Majority of the work force hail from leeds and claim to be Massive leeds fans .
That's a good 30,40 fans .I only know one who was a season ticket holder ,now he goes sporadically.
I turned up in my blades shirt last may and rubbed it in big time![]()
