Leeds manager more sour grapes

In the below image both Billy and the ball are travelling faster than both Leeds defenders. Any subsequent shot by Billy would, in all likelihood, send the ball travelling faster still towards the goal. If you don't see this as denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity I respectfully suggest you don't know what you're talking about.

I think if I was the Leeds manager I'd be concentrating on what the fuck the keeper was doing that far out when there were two defenders there.

Red for me
In fairness it was a fairly safe situation on halfway when cooper was about to receive the ball. Billy was chasing him down but the safe option was just to pump it forward

The keeper was already way out of his goal, about 10 yards from the centre circle. So his positioning was clearly aimed at getting the ball forward quickly.

It was a JOC v Villa type error, lacked concentration and execution.

What the keeper did was trying to put in some sort of tackle to bring billy to a halt... problem was that he was nowhere near the ball

Bielsa is cracking which his comments show. He should’ve just played it down and accepted that it was a series of errors

From the Leeds point of view wouldn't it have been better if Phillips had held Billy back, possibly got away with a yellow as the other defender was nearby with the goalie still slightly goal side, but once the goalie pulled him down, the goalie had to see red

1 game ban for the keeper. I can't believe you've missed the 15 different threads that have covered the subject!

I know......it's as if I've somehow interrupted my trek to the Blades' mecca! I must duly re-new my vow to read every single thread posted, no matter how insignificant or unimportant, I mean, what sort of Blade am I if I cannot devote at least 8 hours a day to the forum?!

It's not like you've got anything better to do!

Absofuckinlutely!

From this point on I suspend all other matters and dedicate my life to the same neurotic, fevered, absolutism that manifests itself once you choose to do nothing other than become a Blades' sponge.
Good. We need a few more.

The Leeds manager has a point. Oh, hang on. He doesn't, because THEY LOST.

Lol. and indeed, more lol.

Let's face it, Flecky getting his early bath, Kilgallon vs the pigs and countless outh 'what's THAT for' moments where you've seen Blades players trudging off suddenly get their payback.

Leeds wanker can say what he likes. They'd have still lost.

pommpey

Just judging it by my own standards Swiss. When I played I got a nosebleed if I went further than the penalty spot! Nowadays you have to be almost another defender

I would have preferred the inevitable second goal rather than the keeper getting sent off, clear goal scoring opportunity for Billy weather the keeper was last man or not. Straight Red.
Saying that they will have to put that young un in the net who flaps at everything (if fit).

Personally I don't believe either of those defenders prevent a) Sharp getting the shot off or b) the ball then reaching the goal.
Absolutely. Look at where the ball is. Their last player isn't even level with it in the picture after Billy has been clattered. It would have been a travesty for anything other than a straight red. It was a certain goal. Zero doubt whatsoever.

Billy had put the ball past the keeper.

If he hadn't impeded him he'd be free on goal.

At the angle he would have had, the defenders would have had no chance to stop the trajectory of the ball going into the goal.

He would have had a shot from 20 yards with nobody in front of him.

I'm surprised anyone is suggesting it wasn't a red.

The covering defenders argument is nonsense. They weren't covering Jack shit. They were at best level after Billy was clattered. The goalie came out because Billy was beyond the defenders. Otherwise he would have stayed.

Straight red. Hope they appeal. Then it will be 2 matches. Not that he was that good anyway.

I agree.

If Billy Sharp thought he had a chance of scoring he doesn't go down. There were 2 defenders covering. Yellow card for me.
Muppet. Like he can stay on his feet when the keepers took them from under him!

And the video:

The Leeds commentators say it's a red but i still think one of those defenders would've caught him and sent him wide

Frame 3, the ball is already past the keeper. The defenders are miles away from the ball. The only outcome to prevent Billy getting to the ball is the goalie poleaxing him. The defenders are mere bystanders at this point.

With the GD so close taking a red might work for them 1 goal taken away from our total and 1 goal less allowed for them.
Bielsa should be happy instead of moaning to all that want listen to the cheat.
