He seems to think their keeper should not have got a red card as other players around him. What an absolute tool he is as everyone can see Billy was about to pull the trigger into an empty net. He is bad loser of the first order. Here’s the link if you can put up with hearing him

I agree.

If Billy Sharp thought he had a chance of scoring he doesn't go down. There were 2 defenders covering. Yellow card for me.

If the keeper wasn't intending to foul him he'd have narrowed the angle and stayed closer to goal. He went with the intention to put Billy on the deck and achieved what he set out to. Red card for a professional foul, not for stopping a goal scoring opportunity.

He’s right. There were 2 covering defenders so it wasn’t last man and should have only been a yellow.

If the last defender brings down a player he gets sent off , despite there being a goal keeper, it is logical that if a keeper brings down a player that despite there was a possibility of one defender stopping it the keeper should see red . In my personal opinion all other players were behind billy therefore a definite red .

One goes to Sharp, other covers the line.

But that picture shows the two Leeds players only just getting goalside and they are running, Billy is lying on the ground. I'd suggest that indicates he was ahead before being fouled?

The last man rule applies to a defender when the keeper is still there, not to a keeper unless there are another 2 defenders between the ball and the net.

There is no 'last man' rule/law in football. If Sharp wasn't fouled he would had an immediately shot on goal with no defender in front of him. The foul prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity therefore a red card was correct

The keeper should be on the penalty spot, not taking Billy out. Billy would then be shooting from about where he is on the deck in your picture. I'm not sure what the XG of that kind of chance is but would have been in the keepers favour, particularly with the pressure of 2 defenders behind him.

Woe are Leeds, misfortune seems to be rearing it's head at just the right time. Bad enough losing to little old Sheffield United, they also have to face what will probably be three games without their rated 'keeper, plus their centre-half seems bound for the physio's couch for some time, unless he makes one of those miracle cures that can happen from time to time.

The two defenders were behind Sharp he’d have had an open goal.

In the photo above they’re only just ahead of him, but if you look closely you’ll see at this point he’s laid sprawled out on the fucking floor!!

It was a red card and if you want conclusive confirmation, even Don ‘Leeds ‘til I die’ Goodman said it was

Its not about last man, or covering .....

Its denial of a goal scoring opportunity .... Red all day longz

The photo is a second or two after the contact

Personally I don't believe either of those defenders prevent a) Sharp getting the shot off or b) the ball then reaching the goal.

In that picture, imagine Sharp is still on his feet and is about to shoot towards an empty net. What do you envisage either of the two defenders doing to stop it from happening?

Neither of them are in a position to stop a goal.

I just feel like Sharp bought the foul. If he backed himself scoring, I don't think he goes down. Just my thoughts on it that's all. He's rode much stronger tackles than that before.

Unless he thought - let's get this twat suspended for 3 games.

1 game ban for the keeper. I can't believe you've missed the 15 different threads that have covered the subject!

Only a one game suspension isn't it?

Here's the still frames:

And the video:

The Leeds commentators say it's a red but i still think one of those defenders would've caught him and sent him wide

So he's ahead of both defenders at all times and if he rounds the keeper he has a free shot on an open net and there's nothing either can do about it - apart from one defender who could lunge in from behind.
