Went off injured towards the end of the reserves match at Leicester last night. We lost 4-1 which perhaps doesn't bode well for the trialists we had playing.

I suppose it's unlikely that Hendrie will be involved on Saturday. I'm getting a bit bored of people calling for him to play though - to me he just runs about aimlessly a lot getting angry until he gets booked or worse. It's always the case that players who aren't in the team become the fans' saviour - until they're in the team and then they're rubbish and Blackie should never have played them!

Plan B - Hendrie has never had the chance to prove himself - Given a good run he would prove that he has far greater footballing ability than Howard, Quinn and Monty put together - People were hailing Howard after his debut cameo - How many chances as he had!!!

i would accept your Howard abd Possibly Quinn suggestion there, but he's a different player to Monty so that comparison is void. For a start Monty can and Knows how to tackle. :D

Sorry, but this sounds like the Carney argument. We have a full squad of players that train 5 days a week, play first team and reserve team games weekly, preseason training/ tours and occasionaly behind closed doors games.

If thats not enough some players (Hendrie is one of these) have been out on loan where they will have been watched by United staff.

If thats not enough for them to prove themselves enough to push for the position with the biggest void then i'm not sure what is.

Hendrie for me is a very decent player, but every chance he's had he's lost his temper and done stupid things too often.

Funnily enough i'm a fan of his, but he does my head in, so he's the one player I want us to get rid of.

I would agree with MAQ that hendrie and monty have two completely different playstyles. monty is one of the best defensive midfielders wheras hendrie has attacking vision and a bit of wisdom needed in CM!

From the hadful of games where hendrie came on last year we instantly sharpened ouur attacks and he commanded form midfield - somehting that is so badly needed!

Agreed. Regardless of how he does in training, reserve games and behind closed doors, he always has a positive impact on the first team - particularly when he comes on in a game where we've struggled to get things moving in midfield for the attack.

I still put forward the very, very simple argument - what does Brian Howard do that Hendrie wouldn't do better? (That includes picking up stupid bookings :D)
