LED Pitchside Advertising Boards

If the LED boards are run by computer (& they must be), they could be hacked, anyone any good at hacking?
Have a few ideas that could be used at the sty.

"Tonight at 9pm on Sky Classics, The Silence of the Lambs. Speaking of cannibalism, why not swing by Beres for a Pork Sandwich"

Those fkn flashing annoying things are an abomination.
First saw them at an England game when they played a WC qualifier in Baku. Was a surreal place to advertise Watney's Red Barrel and stuff in that ramshackle ex-Soviet stadium.

I was there too mate.

Agree that the electronic sponsor boards are soon forgotten and the cardboard clapper things are shite...

One thing that was decent though is that the stand I was in (Hammersmith end) is hollow/not concrete. So when everyone stamps their feet it gets a right booming noise going. Was disappointed by Cardiff fans, started loud but really faded, not a patch on the volume being generated at the stadium of light based on the highlights.

Interesting. I was in the Riverside stand right next to the away end, and apart from the first bit of the 2nd half thought they were really noisy throughout. Was quite an entertaining game all told.

Perhaps it just wasn't carrying to where I was sat. Not a bad game, really ebbed and flowed in terms of who was on top.

No I do not.

Use that technology to display disparaging insults about the opposition instead.

"(Insert team here)'s number 9 is a lead-booted tosser" flashing up every 5 seconds would be better.

"We Hate Wednesday" would be my vote.

Or the full lyrics to "We are the Shoreham Boot Boys"

I was thinking of pigs trotting around the ground, or maybe, SWFIUA everytime the opposition score.
Obviously if we beat them it would be the lyrics to GCB.

Is there really a thread about advertising hoardings around the pitch and what type we'd like?
Fuck me.
How about get rid of all commercial advertising and exhibit art/sculptures/etc made by local artists and artisans?
The poor op was getting a headache and it was hurting his eyes you know. The clubs Health and safety certificate could get revoked !

Surely they bring less in revenue as you need major companies to pay for adverts on them, with old school ones you can sell the whole side to someone or just the odd board to smaller companies. There aren't many of our sponsors who would want to pay for the whole pitch week in week out even on a rotating basis with others (Redbrik did last time from memory).

If you're a megalomaniac football club owner you could just plaster your own name around the pitch as either a vanity project or an effort to further manipulate FFP rules through additional sponsorship revenue.

They don't have to have one major sponsor on them, you could in theory have more smaller companies advertising pitchside than you usually would have on normal sponsor boards.

I'd have them behind the goal and if the opposition got a penalty I'd have them rapidly flashing MISS MISS MISS as they are taking it, I think that would be useful...!!

Or just flashing some other rubbish like bish basham bosh to put them off!

mmmm I can see some potential here.

set up companies called offside LLP and onside LTD then flash up the first when oppo are attacking and second when we're attacking. Derren Brown mind control at it's - best the linos wouldn't stand a chance!

When I see them it's normally a full side or all the way around, granted I don't watch many games where they feature but they instantly remind me of the likes of Emirates, Nike, Coca Cola etc. I've never seen John Smith Builders from Shire Green on one.

Not saying you're wrong though.

Reckon you'd have to go with MISS MISS MISS PLC

Do you want them at the Lane ?

We have had them for one game only (as far as i know) against Spurs in the 2nd leg cup semi,i thought they were very distracting and bad on my eyes.

I see that they were around the pitch at S6 on Sat,are they a permanent fixture or just brought in for one game on TV.

I dont mind them when watching a game on tv,they just become part of the scenery, but really bugged me in that Spurs game
They are permanent as far as i'm aware matey, but they are distracting and fed up of seeing that dachshund walking round pitch.

I have seen some that have had smaller sponsors on. Hull have had a collection of local firms on their advertising boards, you can lay the adverts out as they are on standard boards then rotate them. You will notice them when you watch highlights of matches that are not shown on live TV.

Although like you say for live TV matches Sky end up putting on all their crap on them.

I saw a game on YT where a team playing in red shirts one of their players passed the ball to a father xmas that was moving on the advert board.
send me link for that mate, did you see the peterbro player last season pass ball to a steward in yellow hi-viz vest as it was peterbros away kit

An ideal opportunity to bring back the much missed aluminium narrowboat adverts and have them cruising round the touchline at just under 4mph.

Easy solution. Put up greenscreen (or more likely blue/red screen) ad boards around the pitch. We don't have to look at ugly flashing nonsense and sky can replace them with whatever ads they want for the tv viewership :D

After the initial outlay you would see return on your investment in about a few seasons, depending on the packages offered.

Using the wholesale price of LED advertising displays, I worked out the cost of installing new LED screens at Bramall Lane.

£82,992 is the bottom end figure (without installation. I would imagine the real cost would be around £120k once all setup.

I would hope to see these invested in before next season as they have become standard in the Champ. Even for clubs like Barnsley.

You got a Dachshund? What's he gonna spunk muneh on next? We ant gorra Dachshund.:oops::oops:

Maybe we could use these boards for when the grunters roll sorry tunnel in to town. We could plaster Roy's view from all over them because no doubt their deluded fans will do Wilders team talk for him!

They make much more money and at the top level command daft fees per second.

You wouldn't just sell advertising on them individually either... The money is in buddying up with others and selling screen time.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but didn't we have these when were in the Premier League?
