After 90 minutes of listening to two of the most senile men in Bramall Lane yesterday who hate Lundstram and at 61 years old one of them would play better, I was thinking of comparatives to this situation where long term injuries/selling players has led to another player having to take their place and win over the fans.

The obvious one I first recall was Simon Webster breaking his leg at Mansfield in November 88 and Bob Booker replacing him, he was a target for the boo boys but eventually won them round to become a club legend.

Not quite the same, but Kevin Gage got a lot of stick when he first signed, but then suddenly turned into Mr long-shot.

Also, Pemberton was a liability when he first started playing for us. Jags was as well at times. Before he started playing CB.

Morgan got stick when he first played for. As did Geary. And there were plenty who'd have said Agana was much better than Deano in 88-90.
